So for all of the windows 10 users out there is it worth it to upgrade from windows 7? Keep getting the prompts to do it but not sure if I should, thoughts?

Personally I don't like windows 10, it's design is very different from Windows 7, and it's hard to change etc. Windows 10 also has had some problems with fullscreen on 4:3 etc, but that is changable. All in all I prefer Windows 7, but as any one else would say; it's all about personal preference.

You can try it and revert... Or you could. Dunno if that changed. Personally I prefer it overall.

HotCoffeeIn general it's better.

Only once properly configured. Out of the box it is a terrible laggy mess.

I installed it about a week ago after using Windows 7 for ages. After turning off lots of options and uninstalling the xbox bloatware I get more fps in TF2 than I did before, that may have just been because I have less crap on my SSD now though. Seems pretty good in all other senses, turns on much faster now too.

edit: read this first

extending on #9, here's how you remove the xbox app quick and easy so you never have to deal with that crap ever again.

go to the search menu, type in "powershell" and right click Windows Powershell to run in administrator. paste this in:

Get-AppxPackage *xboxapp* | Remove-AppxPackage

and hit enter. wait for it to do its thing and it should remove the app for good (at least until the next threshold patch when microsoft conveniently reinstalls all of this stuff).

source (also has removal instructions for other bloatware apps w10 comes with)

if you use some real esoteric shit you may have to rollback. i use some random packet inspecting driver that doesn't have a windows10 version and was real mad when I found out

It's all a big mixed bag of Jelly Beans. There is differences to the other Windows versions which some people like and some people hate. You are literally just going to have to try it and if you like it stick with it.

my experience with windows 10 was positive for most of the time, I read some good feedback in a similar thread a month ago and decided to try it out. took literally about an hour for it to update from win8 to win10 without any additional downloads, the system did everything. it's overall fine after you disable some useless apps and enable some good ones, plus they did good in terms of customization and some apps they offer (onenote, flipboard) really come in handy. didn't really give me any significant boost nor any troubles with any game but I noticed that tf2 starts much faster now, dunno if that is because of w10 or it's something else

there's also a nice app for their classic card games, gonna try and find mahjong in their shop later

I switched a few months ago and I haven't considered going back.
A plus is that for some reason I have be able to stream at higher frames.

Before you remove the xbox app go into the xbox app to disable game bar. If you delete the xbox app without disabling gamebar it still shows up because windows is retarded.

If you already deleted the xbox app without disabling game bar do this

run this command on Powershell as admin

Get-appxprovisionedpackage –online | where-object {$_.packagename –like "xboxapp"} | remove-appxprovisionedpackage –online

Then close Powershell and re-install the XBox App from the Store,

its the best version of windows aesthetics and performance wise but im thinking of switching back to windows 7. My graphics driver keeps crashing weirdly only outside of games and my game has been stuttering. Also windows 10 is a security and privacy nightmare.

Obviously not perfect, but undoubtedly better than nothing.

was getting display adapter drivers shortly after upgrading, but now I'm having no issues at all

I have had Windows 10 since release, for what it is worth.

Been using it for about 3-4 weeks and the only problem ive had is trying to do the major update that came out a few days ago (I just get a black screen when it tries to restart)

Thankfully from what I can tell I dont need the update so it isnt really a problem
