An issue with your computer is blocking VAC

I have been having an annoying issue for hours where I get the following error: An issue with your computer is blocking the VAC system. You cannot play on secure servers.

I did not install any third party software at all.

I have tried restarting my PC and trying to follow these steps: from https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=2117-ilzv-2837

Did anyone had a similar issue like this before? It is really stressful having to reboot your pc multiple times in hopes of having 100% repaired results.

Thank you!!

NOTE: On the section of "Repair the Steam Service", I only manage to open a cmd and nothing shows up, entirely blank. Does this mean I have to wait until something shows up. I was waiting for 3 minutes and nothing.

Using an alt account seems to work most of the time, it's the best I've found. Very annoying bug.

Had the same problem, this fixed it for me, hope it helps.

Exit Steam.
Click the Start button, then 'All Programs', and 'Accessories'
Right-click on Command Prompt and click "Run as administrator..."
Please note if you are running Windows 8 you will need to press Windows Key + X and select Command Prompt (Admin)
In the command prompt, type the following command and press Enter:
bcdedit.exe /deletevalue nx
Restart your computer.
Launch Steam and test the issue again.

the fixes are not permanent and none of them may even work for you.
if this happens generally the only solution is to wait 10-15mins and try again.

I've conveniently had this issue almost only on official days and at the most inappropriate of times too.

What both me and my teammates who've also had this multiple times before started noticing is that none of the fixes actually (seem to) fix anything. Instead the issue solves itself after a bit of time has passed, even if you don't try any of the fixes.

The thing is that trying all these fixes, restarting your computer and launching tf2 etc. tends to take quite a while unless you have a pretty decent SSD.
So by the time you've tried all these things the issue has ended up solving itself regardless.

Usually it seems to take anywhere between 10 minutes and 1 hour but rarely anything outside of that time frame.

I don't know if any of the listed fixes for this issue might actually just speed up the problem being resolved, rather than solving it instantly. However I've never noticed a difference in time it takes for it to resolve regardless of what I've done about it.

The only workaround for this is playing on an alt from the looks of it.
Although sometimes your alt will quickly get the issue as well if you just out and switch from your main right away.
I'd say that logging out from your main, restarting your computer and then logging in to your alt would be a good idea.
You could probably try throwing in that cmd fix as well before the restart if you can bother.

These are mostly just my own speculations though, if I'm completely miss-informed here I'm sorry.
The only thing I can back my statements up with is that I've simply had these issues a lot and during those times tried quite a lot of things without any apparent difference in overall results.

This worked for me but I kept crashing the game, couldn't even connect to my own local server.
then I used the stock hud and everything worked out well. might be custom huds?

I'm seconding Twisted here, nothing I've found helps with this thing, only time. For me it has been everything between 6 minutes to 2 hours, so it might seem some of the suggestions help one time when the second time they won't. In my two years of playing TF2 I've gotten this bug on 3 different computers.

MadKthen I used the stock hud and everything worked out well. might be custom huds?

I only started using a custom hud two weeks ago, I doubt it to be the source of the problem (tho it could be one of the many things that could cause the bug, of course).

I got this bug three times last week within 48 hours, and sent Valve some ugly mail about it. I only hope they will fix this issue when MM comes out, or at least find out what causes it.

Ok I have run tests during the morning and nothing bad has happened.

I guess the issue was following from: http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showpost.php?p=35987572&postcount=34

I did that yesterday before going to bed, so was either that or like you guys said, it fixed itself.

Clockwork had the same issue and said it fixed itself as well.

Glad to see good results, thanks to all of you who tried to help me out.
