My siblings pretty much stream every hour they are awake at home. Here's what our connection looks like when one of them is on netflix:

Cleary 1.5 Mbps isn't enough. Would 12 be good enough to cover their netflix/youtube addictions?

You probably already know this but all internet providers advertise their speeds in Megabit format(really dumb gimmick); megabits are an 8th the size of megabytes, so 12Mbps is really 1.5MBps

You're lucky. I can't even load speedtest to check when 2 people are watching netflix.

That was just one. I don't want to imagine if they both ended up with accounts.

I had read that the HD ones used 3.8, but the article was nearly 2 years old. Thanks.

That's better than my upload when I'm not doing anything. I get around 400-600 ping when somebody uses Netflix.

If you have access to the router then you can just set your machine to have priority on bandwidth.

If you're living with more than another person, invest in the best bandwidth possible - its worth it. Just make everyone pay for some of it.
