Selling a gaming laptop?

So I'm going to be upgrading to an actual desktop very soon, and I know I am not going to use the gaming laptop I have anymore. I would like to sell it to help fund the PC build, but I'm not sure the best way to go about getting money for it. I don't think there are a lot of gaming enthusiasts where I live, so selling it on Craigslist might be tough. The only other thing I can think of, is I heard that Best Buy will buy back old laptops and stuff.

Anyone know of a good (and reliable) way to sell a good gaming laptop?

EDIT: Here are some pictures and specs

Gigabyte P37x gaming laptop with 17" screen
i7 @ 2.60 GHz
Nvidia GTX 970m w/ 6GB VRAM
8GB RAM
128 GB SSD
1 TB HDD

I'm looking for $1000 + shipping

Off the top of my head the specs are:

Gigabyte P37x gaming laptop with 17" screen
i7 @ 2.3 GHz
Nvidia GTX 970m (I think 4GB of VRAM)
8GB RAM
128 GB SSD
1 TB HDD

I'm not set on the price yet. I payed ~$1400 for it new, but it was on sale on Newegg, down from $1600 I think. It's very lightly used, I've only had it for about two months. I don't really have a good feel for what a fair price is, but I was thinking somewhere around $1000?

Kijiji is sketchy as fuck. I've heard mixed reviews of Craigslist/EBay.

If you're a student in college there are usually exchange programs that you can do with other students. It narrows the demographic, but there will definitely be a lot of students interested.

E: idk the rules about selling it on here, but if you post some pics I might be interested

I've sold a deathadder to someone on tf.tv before, so I think it's okay. Pics are uploading now, I'll update the OP. If you are interested, PM me on here or add me on steam.

I've updated the OP with the specs and pictures in case anyone here is interested. Despite what some people say, this community has some cool peeps in it, so I'd love to see this laptop go into one of their hands.

Can you connect it to a 120hz monitor? (and have it produce 120hz obviously)

SideshowWhat's it like playing on that? Fps on average?

It plays beautifully for me, I haven't had a single issue. I'm assuming you're talking about tf2, in which case I don't know the true average because I always leave the fps capped at 121, and it has never dipped below that as far as I have noticed. I'll see if I can get a better number for you tonight or something. Probably the most taxing game I've played is a VERY heavily modded skyrim with and ENB and lots of texture mods. Loaded on the SSD the loading times were fine, and the fps was probably 30-40 on average, occasionally dipping into the 20s.

HallowCan you connect it to a 120hz monitor? (and have it produce 120hz obviously)

I don't know the answer to that because I don't have a monitor to try it with. If there's a way for me to check on the computer, I can look for you. Otherwise your guess is as good as mine.

Pretty sure you need either a recent version of HDMI or displayport.

HDMI 1.4b which was released in 2011 is most likely the port on this, as HDMI 2.0 didn't come out until April this year. 1080p 120Hz should be possible on it.

Conversely you can also use a CRT monitor over the VGA port, and use 120Hz assuming you can find a CRT that supports it.

It has a displayport according to notebookcheck, so it should be able to easily drive 120hz @ 1080p. And with a quad core i7, it should do fine in TF2 even though it is a laptop.

they are different sites but they have the exact same purpose. kijiji is mainly used by canadians and craigslist by americans.

A robber listing something on a site doesn't automatically make it sketchy. I'm sure tons of stolen merchandise has been put on literally every site that allows you to sell stuff. I've used Kijiji probably 30+ times with no issues.
