VAC Issues

Wasn't entirely sure where to put this.

I'm getting the "an issue with your comp is blocking VAC" error. I've already had this problem once when I reformatted so everything is disabled. Yesterday I unplugged my comp because a storm was coming and when I turned it back on it bluescreened saying that the dwm system driver couldn't load. It also told me something in Google Chrome (something like JumpListIconsOld) was corrupt, so I chkdsk'd that and restarted. Everything was fine, I did like 3 scrims, and then in pugs later I got kicked out by the VAC message. Re-validating gave me like a half hour before I was kicked out again. Everything on the Valve page was disabled except for kernel debugging (which I assume got turned on because of the chkdisk perhaps?) which I disabled, but when I restarted, I got kicked out again. Re-disabling the kernel debugging gives me the "operation has completed successfully" popup, which leads me to believe something is re-enabling it (or it's not getting turned off in the first place).

This is my third restart. I haven't been kicked out for a half-hour now so it might have finally disabled itself but I'm going to make this thread in case any solutions do crop up. Any ideas? I'm kind of lost (and not good with this kind of stuff really). Sorry for the rambly post but it's like 2:30 AM and i'm kind of being driven insane by this.

I get this problem on every new computer i use with a fresh install of windows. I just follow this steam support page https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=2117-ILZV-2837 , takes a few restarts but works after following that.

just a guess, try checking your hosts file and for any steam/valve related entries. If so, remove them

Any antivirus software? I've heard some might interfere with VAC.

If you have the dropbox program open that causes problems with it. Had this issue for almost a year and found out dropbox was doing it to me.

Only MBAM which isn't on valves list.

Nothing in there (everything was the default text commented out). I just re-tried and nothing happened so I assume the "third restart" trick worked.

I had this issue and it lasted a whole month, I ended up having a terrible virus, I would suggest junkware removal tool if this is your case.

I have AdwCleaner, I just did a scan and nothing came up.
