VTF file's fringe

Hi, guys.

First off, I wanna say that I know there's a HUD editing questions & answers thread but it's really hard to get an answer there, plus this is a really specific topic so I hope you'll understand.

To get to the point, I tried to create a custom Team Fortress 2 logo for my HUD as a VTF file from a png file created in Photoshop. The file loses a shit ton of quality though (which I wouldn't mind that much) and a white fringe appears.

Here are comparison pics:

Anyone who has experience with this sort of stuff would know how to get better quality vtf files/remove the white fringe?
