i am of the opinion that the reason behind why many women are bad at videogames are their pasts/upbringing- now i'm not saying that guys are BORN AND RAISED AS CYBER-ESPORTS WARRIORS it's just i feel like there are a lot of factors in the female growth environment that hinder them from being good at videogames, the online environment being one of them since I feel like a lot of guys playing in pubs are afraid to tell females that they're doing something wrong and because of this the egos of said players breed scrub mentalities. this obviously happens to both genders but i feel like it happens more often to females because of the mentality of hurr hurr female gamers

just like how asians have a ton of technical skill but lack the creativity needed in top level play (CS comes to mind since that is dominated by euroland) but that stigma for me has changed watching streetfighter4 (infiltration WOOO) and a bit of SC2.

personally i've only met/played with a few female gamers and most of them had very scrub-free attitudes with a couple of exceptions.

also I think what zigster means by his comment is that when you really love doing something, some insults (or words over the internet) shouldn't stop you from doing it

Good grief, I see I was correct in calling this thread as "going downhill" earlier. It's an all girls showmatch! Why is that a big deal? Relax and enjoy watching TF2 please. You people have to over analyze everything.

The people that have degenerated this thread into a freaking out party about it being an ALL GIRL showmatch, created a spammy gender war, and an argument about sex and asexual behavior. Dem people.

radioas much as i really hate this kind of separatist shit, i can see how the community could benefit from having this sort of novelty showmatch.

Basically this, nobody's taking it seriously. It's comparable to getting pissed off at the HL mix that happens occasionally where they get all those internet celebrities to play.

I've played on teams with several different girls in tf2 so I have a pretty good view of what they go through when just trying to get their game on and let me tell you it isn't pretty. I would just like to go on record that i think all 18 of the beautiful ladies participating in this event are very talented wonderful individuals and its great that they get a chance to showcase their skills in an environment where they aren't being falsely put down (or falsely built up!) solely because of their gender.

And if any of them or any other women in the tf2 community would like to chat about this event or any of the interesting and pertinent gender-related issues brought up in this thread you can feel free to add me on steam anytime right here http://steamcommunity.com/id/ukm

I think it's a great idea. If I was part of the minority gender while playing TF2, and I was on a full team of us. And there was ANOTHER team of the same minority.. you bet your bottom dollar I'd be wanting to play them in some games. And heck, I stream shitty Steel scrims, why can't they stream theirs?
I'll be there watching.

Is it being cast, or is someone from a team streaming i?=t?

It will be casted by yours truly and Dolphin! And it should be a fun cast, not a lot of strategy analyzing and player critiques. More like movie references and judgments on hats.

Oh-god-so-much-drama-all-around. I'm a girl too and I don't give a fuck about all this shit. I mean, if the girls want to play, let them play. If you don't like the idea, just don't watch the stream. Easy.

TwinqeMan.

I saw the thread title, and I just knew this was going to turn into a gender debate.

Me too :/

Everyone is missing the point. The problem isn't that two teams that happen to be all female are playing each other and someone wants to cast it for fun.

The problem IS THAT APPARENTLY FEMALES THINK THEY CAN JUST POST SHIT ANYWHERE EVEN THOUGH THERE IS A FUCKING HIGHLANDER SECTION FOR THIS KIND OF SHIT.

These girls are making a mockery of the forum organization system and there should be a separate forum made for females so they can post shit all over.

EDIT: Thanks for moving this to the HL section.

I think the women got lost on the way to the kitchen.

Wreath should be excluded from this tournament, as it stands her gender is still a question.

Shaunathan "Seanbud" Longely is quitting tf2 from what I've heard

I totally agree with you. You know that it was an American that was asking you that... (I'm also american btw). People need to expanded their horizons more. I'm studying a couple languages now myself. Thanks

brownymasterThings like tennis, yeah women can still compete with men.

In 1998, 203rd ranked male player Karsten Braasch took on Venus Williams and beat her 6–2. He also played Serena Williams and won 6–1 after the Williams sisters, who were 17 and 16 at the time, said they could beat any man ranked 200 or worse. Braasch was 15 years older than Serena and Venus, and had drunk 2 beers and played one round of golf that morning.[20] Braasch said afterwards, "500 and above, no chance" as he claimed he had played like someone ranked 600 in order to keep the game "fun."
