Okay so my TF2 is almost unplayable for me at this point because every server I visit behaves like this

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z7aCZYWeIFg

Regardless of the quality of the server or where I join, be it a 15 ping UK server or 170 US server, this was just on a EU valve pub. Problems include:

Stuttery Animations
Stuttering Rockets + general projectiles
Stutter on death. Regardless of gib or ragdoll settings.
Some fast projectiles like arrows or the guillotine don't even show at all sometimes
Extremely stutter rocket jumping as seen in the video.
General movement jerkiness..

Fixes I've tried:

Messed with all net commands such as interp and cmd rate .etc.
Removed all configs and custom content
Re-installed on a different hard drive and verified cache
Played TF2 as pure default.

What's my problem here?

I made a thread about a week ago addressing this, perhaps check the last pages where someone at valve gave some console commands that can help. http://teamfortress.tv/thread/20235/slight-freezes/?page=1#348718

I checked the thread but my problem has existed before the update mentioned so I figured it was unrelated. Thank you though I'll try it

I used to get this, I reinstalled the game and it was gone, maybe try to defrag your game folder?

I was thinking it was that tbh, virgin media aren't all that great here. And it feels network related more than anything else

Get an ethernet cable. You can test your packet loss on your wireless settings too, I'd say that's the culprit.

That doesn't look anything like network issues.

Seems like graphics related stuttering. Update/reinstall graphics drivers or try different versions. Run from integrated GPU if your board/setup supports that.

\/\/\/ yeah i was going to say to run netgraph too cause that would help you see if the fps drops or there is lag.

Hi folks,

This is totally unrelated to cl_loadondemand_default 0. To me, this looks like packet loss. Can you run with net_graph 5 and see if it reports loss or choke values other than 0 when this is happening?

Also, if you could try to remove your addons and custom UI stuff (and reset back to default convars) that would give a useful data point. I'm *not* saying that's a solution, merely that it would rule those out.

McJohn@Valve

I'll see if I can record a minute or so of footage with default TF2 and net_graph 5 up on the bottom right and if there's anyone playing at this time

Completely default TF2 seems to provide the same sort of laggy stutteryness but loss and choke don't seem to change from 0. I'll edit in a video into this post when it's uploaded

Thanks for reminding me, I totally forgot to join the group (you'll see I'm a member now)--I've only been at Valve for about 7 months. I'm not sure about the badge. But the list is woefully out of date. :)

Also, I have about 1500 hours of /played, but most of it was from before the steam stats reset that happened about 6 years ago. Sad panda.

Anyways, good call on being a skeptic, you can never be too careful!
