Mic not working ingame/anything not mumble

I've had this problem for more than a year now. My microphone is recognized in the Control Panel (I'm on windows 7) and it picks up sound when I talk into it. However, in any steam game (TF2, CS:S, CS:GO, even steam calling) any sound I make is not picked up by the program. I have the same problem with Skype. The only program I use that works with my mic is Mumble.

Has anyone ever had this issue before? Thanks in advance.

Have you ticked the exclusive button in audio input settings? All I could find with a quick google search. If it's working with other programs the mic itself definitely functions. Could also try running as administrator, restarting computer (fixes when my mic lags out from mumble) or reinstalling mumble if that doesnt work.

edit: This looks like your problem

Thanks, but my problem is the opposite. It works in mumble but not other games. I have the exclusive mode checked, still not hearing anything.
