Why post a thread asking for opinions if all you are going to do is ignore ignore them and then troll?

no-one's said why it's bad it's just a bunch of posts saying "it's bad haha"

The first post was talking about scouts I'm guessing. If we're talking about midfights the pyro could have a problem with scouts, but other than that the demo is an expert at mid-long range fighting and the pyro is an expert up close, so will a scout really get that close without dying?

I'm not going to take the time to respond thoughtfully if people aren't willing to do the same.

ya ur logic is infallible

demo hits scouts at mid-long range 100% of the time later scouts

and scout hits pyro 100 percent of the time, and is always in really close proximity too.

In fact our pyro and demo are both playing with a steering wheel

DeerDidn't Crack Clan Yellow run Rabbit (I think it was him?) on pocket pyro for the majority of the season in open S15? You might be able to find some demos or something if you want to see some pros and cons if finding people to scrim against is difficult.

I played with Rabbit/Hooey in s11 and he did mostly the same thing. So I'm speaking from experience when I say that running pyro as a pocket is objectively worse than a soldier. I'm trying to think of a position to replace where a full-time pyro would be better suited and I can't think of one.

By pocketing as pyro you're giving up all of your offensive capabilities. Every single one of the scrims you play, winning or losing, will most likely reach 30 minutes before anyone gets 5 rounds. You can only take the majority of the heals and do the least damage for so many games before you have to think to yourself "am I screwing over my team?"

Thanks for the solid post.

You could be 100% right, I'd like to experience this for myself though to make sure. You're basically giving up damage and mobility for utility to support your demoman, as the demoman would be playing an aggressive euro-demo style.

Maybe the pyro could be better suited to play on the flank but then I feel like your airblasts don't really impact the game and you'll just get ganged by the scouts.

Anyway, grateful for feedback from someone who's tried this before.

To try to bring this thread away from just being a shitposting-fest, I ocasionally pull out pyro (and other interesting offclasses) while holding on diag on badlands, due to being so close to the health cabinet, and a possibility to change back to my normal class without too much time passing. An unexpected pyro, sentry or heavy can often lead to a free pick.

you cant run it full time, you can get away with it once every couple rounds as a wtf, especially if the team relies heavily on bombing.

You definitely won't have success with it on maps like badlands and granary, where the terrain does not allow you to get much done with airblast or reflected projectiles.

A map like process or gullywash though where the mid fights are dragged out spam fests you could probably ditch a scout for a pyro every now and then, especially since bombing is common and its hard for you to get shot in the back on those maps.

If you think about choke points where fights are won or lost by spam, and add a pyro to your push, you essentially negate one of their soldiers and gain one to an extent, assuming you reflect a rocket or two. Also at lower levels scouts panic when they see medics so you can probably keep your med up well if your shotgun aim is good.

Don't respond to my post though Epoch, I honestly have no regard for anything you are thinking about typing and the number of times you typed haha this thread makes me wonder if you're autistic or just have never actually laughed before.

the thing about the pyro class is the embodiment of evil. It is literally all powerful and the most terrifying force in the game that is team fortress 2. With its mouse two ability and nullify every force in this game and can instantly kill everything on the map if it is at full meter.

I appreciate the thoughtful responses everyone. We'll take this into account when considering future "silly things". I'd appreciate it more if there was a team willing to step up and play us, but this is the second best outcome so it's still wonderful. I don't know the importance of minus frags but some people need to seriously read between the lines. Happy fragging everyone!
