CEVO Match Mod Feedback

Hey TF.TV,

Last night was not only the first round of matches for our Spring Classic tournament, it was also the launch of our new automated TF2 match mod. Things were a little rocky, but most software launches are and overall I think things went pretty well.

Bugs discovered and patched from last night:

  • Cancelling and re-reserving a server now properly initializes the match and changes the server to the correct map.
  • SOAP-TF2DM spawns now function (oops.)
  • Changed text at the start of the first half to make it more clear that it is LO1 and not LO3.
  • Detection of second half win conditions is fixed. This should mean that stats, demos, and automatic score reporting will work now.
  • The config has been updated to disallow in-game votes using Valve's voting system. There was at least one match that became unplayable due to the votes putting the server into a state that the mod was not prepared to handle.

Known issues:

  • Teams currently cannot customize their team tag. This is a feature that will most likely be added in time for the launch of Season 5. I am unsure if we have the resources and time to add it before the end of the Spring Classic.

If there are any other bugs that you noticed that have not been mentioned, please post them here with as much detail and description as you can provide. Launching new infrastructure like this is never easy, and it's always smoother when the community can help us spot and patch bugs as soon as they come up. Additionally, any and all feedback on the usability and features of the mod are welcome.

Thanks,
CEVO|Lange

As listed in the patch notes in my first post, the endgame logic was malfunctioning last night. As a result, no stats or demos were saved from last night's matches. I believe I have found and fixed this bug, and that stats and demos should function in future matches.

We were surprised when we got into the server to see the new ready up feature. All of it went very smooth. The LO1 through everyone for a loop, but overall it was a good exp, and server performed fine. Keeping making these improvements CEVO!

I thought FROY vs SHAR was pretty cool...

freakinok so im probably an idiot but what do LO1 and LO3 mean

LOx = Live on X, the number of restarts before the game goes live. In ESEA, when the match starts the game restarts 3 times. This is a holdover from old Counter-Strke configs where this was the best way of indicating that the game was starting. You'd "rcon exec cal_lo3.cfg" and it would begin the Lo3 process. Now that we have mods that can write text to the center of the screen, I'm not convinced it is necessary.

Due to an unfortunate glitch in our distribution script, the fixes I made previously were not actually pushed out to all servers. I'm working to get this fixed now, and hopefully these patches will be properly distributed this time.

As a result, stats and demos are also not available for tonight's matches.

Will the Match Mod be available as a standalone or is it proprietary for CEVO matches only?

I have not had the opportunity to see/use this in a CEVO match

It will not be made publicly available, and will be used on CEVO servers only.

Demos have been fixed and should be available for any matches played tonight or yesterday.

Stats still weren't working tonight, so after my team's match I started debugging SizzlingStats some more. Mike (lead web dev for CEVO) and I found an issue with our production server that was preventing it from properly communicating with SizzlingStats. We're in the process of fixing this issue and hope it is the last roadblock between us and functional stats. We hope to push out the fix tomorrow in time for matches.

Thank you guys for being patient,
Lange
