Hello,
I'm Stevo,
as some may know me, I throw the ultiduo tourney every now and then, and plan on continue doing so. But I want to throw B-ball tourney, as well as others.
As for the B-ball rigmarole, I need help getting a hold of the "proper" configs for it, as well as "basic" B-ball rules.
so if you the community could help me out, I'd be truly grateful :) (I have looked, and what I've found didn't work :'( "

Thanks so much!

Well, i have like an "mge" style map, same b-ball maps, but like 5 of them, i was thinking about just using that on my server, or do you think a specific map would be better? i'm totally open to suggestions

ctf_ballin_sky please. The mge variety, last I played, didn't have proper intel hitboxes.

As for config: 2 second respawn (may require a plugin), and a rule to deny standing on your own net to block intel capture (goaltending). Otherwise, a standard CTF config should be fine, etf2l's for example.

Lol What? The map is literally the standard bball map with an even higher skybox and different textures... Please elaborate on what's shitty about the map?

Also it was made for a better viewing experience on stream. Hence the envolving scenery...

Shittalk like this really pisses me off, a lot of work was involved with that map and running both bball cups, which were a success whether you like it or not...

It's not a shit map. It looks good, and it's cool that people put time into it.

HOWEVER: most of us prefer ballin_sky, bball_royal, and other more simple maps to it. Reasons for this range from frame-rate to not liking the loud colors.

It still doesn't change the fact that the map is totally the same gameplay wise to ballin_sky.

I could see the environment (or lack of it) being a preference, but honestly effect on fps's is very minimal if any, we tested it at the time.

You are already playing a gamemode that supports 4 players max, since that's one of the big impacts on the game performance, that alone gives you next to perfect performance on virtually every decent set up, unless you are using some stone age pc. If it was a 6s map I could see it having to do with optimization issues but that's not the problem as we tested that and x_dias even reworked the final version with extra optimization fixes.

Well first off it's not the stock bball map since someone just randomly made holes in the backboard. I'd be cool with it but for some reason the hole on one side is like actually 4 times bigger than the other one. As for the rest of the map it's honestly just distracting as hell, I have no idea why he'd use a caution tape texture for the markings on the court and the random explosion mark is just kinda silly. The detailing outside the play area seems mostly useless and could have probably been far better optimized using a 3d skybox instead of a massive ass area that nobody could even access. However the 3d skybox could cause problems for casters using a free camera I guess.

thanks for doing this man, tourneys are always a good time.

i'd suggest doing ctf_ballin_sky, the comptf map is cool looking but i remember some tourney i was in where multiple people were having issues with the map.
also, i'd be willing to throw in some ref/keys as a entry fee to make this interesting. always cool to be playing for something.

no matter what the rules are i'm down for this, thanks again.

The holes in the backboard are visual only, they work like the rest of the blackboard and just absorb the rockets, it just adds a bit of flair to it.
Also the hole in the court was removed in the final version as well as the envolving props reworked and optimized, together with the logo updated. Either you still have the first beta version of the map or you have never played it.

As for the caution tape texture I never heard that complaint I guess it could be a matter of preference but its not like you would have a seizure from looking at it, it was just used to not completely copy the other existing maps.

As mentioned before the main goal with the map was to give a better spectator and streaming experience (think like what baloo does for ultiduo) hence why the involving scenery is a core part of the map, and to be honest I think x_dias managed to it very successfully.

anarchayi'd suggest doing ctf_ballin_sky, the comptf map is cool looking but i remember some tourney i was in where multiple people were having issues with the map.

I would love to hear these issues. We tested it multiple times and impact on performance was minimal or next to 0 as explained before.

I guess I did have the "beta" version that was for some reason still labeled as a final map would be. Anyway the detail really doesn't seem to add enough to make it worth using over the standard map that probably everybody already has downloaded and probably already on their servers. I mean I guess it's up to Stevokenivo but I'd say ctf_ballin_sky if it were up to me.

I had issues with the comptf map, low framerate and can't turn off the skybox. the hills and stuff are not nice when youre actually playing the map. I had to change my crosshair for that tourney.

some frames and visual clutter might not be gamebreaking, but I'm a lot more comfortable on ballin_sky or royal.

etf2l/esl configs are bad because of the respawn time settings (or lack thereof)

KanecoI would love to hear these issues. We tested it multiple times and impact on performance was minimal or next to 0 as explained before.

I can easily get 450-500 fps in ballin_sky, but in comptf I'm struggling to get over 100. Would much prefer to not have to suffer through that so that viewers can look at a background jungle instead of the actual game.
