I'm setting up an ethernet cable in my new house, but the router is pretty far away. I would need an 80 ft. cable (or so). I have no issue with this except I remember hearing that the cables are less efficient or something the longer they are. Would I see significant performance loss of any kind? Anyone have personal experience using a cord this long?

or you could get ethernet over power, but there will be slight speed lost but it gets rid of running a ethernet cable everywhere.

me and my room mate are both running 75 foot cords from the switch in our living room to our bedrooms, and neither of us have noticed any performance issues. I ping well to servers around me, and aside from TWC being an occasional piece of shit there are no real problems.

I recently bought a 100ft ethernet cable and everything was acting fine. You're good to go.

Brandoor you could get ethernet over power, but there will be slight speed lost but it gets rid of running a ethernet cable everywhere.

From what I've heard the speed loss is pretty much negligible, espec if you get the 500mbps ones
