enigma1. Tape fix
2. V61 firmware @500Hz or higher
tape fix doesn't work but the firmware fixes LOD. the sensor placement also makes the mouse feel weird.

the real dealbreaker is the malfunction speed though

Hmm - I had opposite results. When I switched to v61 from v32 I had a significantly higher LOD as well as a plenty high malfunction speed (also use a 12"/360). I couldn't get it to significantly malfunction under any circumstances. The tape fix did lower LOD for me, at least by placebo effect - haven't used cds. Perhaps our experiences are different due to different mouse surfaces. I do agree the sensor placement is a little weird but I was able to get used to it.

Not a perfect mouse but I enjoy it thoroughly. One of BST's mice might be able to convince me to switch though.

Salmosa has 1st gen DA sensor. It is/was the best small mouse on the market. Abyssus isn't as good.

Anyone know if the CM Storm Spawn has malfunctioning issues @ around 8"/360?
(Enigma said he had issues with it @ 12inches)

i've been using a deathadder for more than 3 year and didn't have any problem externaly and internaly. i have 2 friends using an abyssus for more than 2 years, so, maybe it's ur problem or u just had bad luck.

On the newest firmware, I don't have any issues and I'm currently at 8.5"

Just some stuff about the Abyssus.

1. The mouse feet are next to worthless, if anything they are almost flush with the bottom of the mouse. The mouse WILL scrape against your mousepad if you apply minute amounts of pressure to each side of the mouse (and it's annoying). To remedy this I've taken the 2 smaller feet off of my Xai and put them on the bottom of my mouse.

2. The lift off distance is VERY high. This mouse wouldn't work to well for you if you lift your mouse a lot. It's been fine for me though since I've been using a higher sensitivity. Feels great for Starcraft and other games down that alley, though. I've also tried the tape fix, it might have helped slight amounts but it wasn't noticeable, I should have played some FPS with it afterwards to test it out.

The mouse is still really nice and I'm using it over my IME 3.0, it's also well priced.
