I may be blind but is there a way to turn on the Kill/death/freeze cam boxes, like "You were killed by X" and his health and his items etc? Right now its just blank except for press f5 for screenshot

Replace MainMenuOverride.res & StatSummary.res from 5MD or CMYK. There might be a bunch of issues that pop up with that, e.g. missing colors.

How do I enable captions? I'm a bit slow with computers so will need some step-by-step guidance here :c

Also, is there any way to make the scoreboard background and the killfeed background more transparent? I hate seeing giant chunks of my screen blocked off.

if you're talking about the tiny marker at the bottom right corner, you'll have to edit the image using VTFedit. they're found in the custom\...\materials\vgui\replay\thumbnails\ folder, under the names bg_bluetri and bg_redtri. open with VTFedit, right click, copy, put into your favorite image editor. when done, click file>import and find your edited image, copy the flags from the original file, save as, then replace the original file in your custom folder and you should be done. (haven't tested so I might be wrong)

if you're just trying to enable captions you already have, 'closecaption 1' in console enables them. if you don't already have captions installed, theres a tutorial here for making your own. otherwise you could take someone else's closecaption_english.dat/closecaption_english.txt and put them into your custom\...\resource folder

look for fillcolor and change it to 'TransparentBlack' or 'TransparentLightBlack' (or something else if you don't like those)

killfeed:
open custom\..\scripts\hudlayout.res, ctrl+F HudDeathNotice
change basebackgroundcolor to 'TransparentBlack' (or another dark color) and localbackgroundcolor to something like 'OrangeDim' (pre-defined color. it's a pretty transparent white)

I think that is original or one of the first updates to yahuds mainmenu. I might have it somewhere but it's possible I deleted it.

I really like that fragvid hud, decided to try and use it as an actual hud because I like the look. How would I go about making it so I can see the persons health when I am spectating and how can I add a spechud? I know this is an experimental fragvidhud not hud so sorry if I am asking to much.

I don't have the time to make a full modular HUD out of the fragvid interface. You can read up on the various guides to get into HUD-making. (flame's guide covers the basics, doodles' guide is more in-depth).

This is a really old version. Try these repos instead:

I've been looking through the pages but I can't seem to find a definite answer. How do I edit the main menu completely? I'd like to have this as my main menu, but I have no idea in the world how to do it: http://www.file-upload.net/download-8132401/TF2_logo_background.7z.html

I decided to branch out a bit and created 3 new versions. The old version still works and I will try to maintain the old repo on GitHub. The HUD should stay in a usable state for a while. (There are alternatives as well, check out Garm3n's REX and the Hudas project).

This whole thing has been in the works for a while. I hope you like the result!

About the different versions:

The first of the new versions, [b]FLV[/b], is based on a simple concept: You pick your team, which determines the HUD's main color. Red or blue. This is basically the new "main" version. http://imgur.com/a/OBoDr

[b]5MD[/b] is sort of the basic version of FLV. It features the bonus-cross health effect, which is used in a variety of other HUDs. Other than the red cross and the green uber color this HUD is kept in grayscale. Its plain-ness is supposed to allow it to be used as a canvas. It will be easy to add your own colors without them clashing with other colors of the HUD. This HUD is still heavily WIP and might turn out completely different in the end. http://imgur.com/a/9mJdY

[b]CMYK [/b]is using that 5MD canvas, but goes a bit beyond it with some additional tweaks. It features strong colors (Cyan, Magenta and Yellow) and a stronger contrasts between all elements. Team-indicators haven been adjusted to the color-scheme. http://imgur.com/a/xp4C4

Other things that are worth mentioning:

I've used broesel's little trick to get custom materials working with sv_pure. This allows for the team-indicator and certain team-colored elements. This also made the current SpecHUD possible.

The new crosshair should feel familiar to anyone that has used fog's crosshairs before. The different characters of the alphabet match different crosshairs. I'm using the method that Ell (check out his HUD!) has shown me to center them. They should be automatically centered for any resolution. I only recently started messing around with crosshair-fonts in FontForge, so these might take a bit to be polished. 
All the other crosshairs (fog, Garm3n and konr) are still included.

Customization is still a main feature of this HUD, I'm still testing ways to make it easier for people to use and access various options. The readme has been simplified, too.

This project was originally a modification of Garm3nHUD-SL and I even went back a bit to its roots again (it's a bit more colorful). The main font is identical to the recent Garm3nHUD versions. (Novecento, it's free!) The winpanel is heavily based on the old Garm3nHUD REX winpanel.

would it be possible to make the version of the hud used for making movies, for actual gaming (with crosshair etc)? it would also be lovely if the health didnt appear as 1... on my mac as well.

I already asked this question haha, he just does not have the time to make a hud out of it. However, you can read up on the various guides on hud making. Like doodles' guide doodlesstuff.com/?tutorial=tf2hud I think that is the link for doodles' you can also just google them yourself.

How do I make this smaller? I read the guide a bit and went into clientscheme.res, resized ""BoldNumbers54" //Used for hp & ammo" to change the large hp/ammo fonts.
