HuntLast time I saw you in mix you were sniping/pyro the whole game

** editing this to make my point more clear **

I don't believe you pay much attention to me playing then. I have literally never played sniper nor pyro an entire game. The closest you see me snipe for a long period of time is whenever I play Viaduct and it's working.

I'm not sure why you're trying to throw me under the bus when the point I made about running off classes had nothing to do with playing a utility for the entire length of the pug, which that itself should be common sense and honestly shouldn't need to be said.

Now you're calling me hypocritical for literally nothing. I'm not sure how I should respond to that, so I'm not going to.

4812622was respawning when about to push last and had my med picked by spawncamping mailbox, can confirm :'c

9 times out of 10 I would have stayed at last like anyone else would have. Should I have, though? More than likely, yes. But there was a clear opening and after checking the scoreboard, I knew your med was going to respawn in a few seconds. I took the opportunity and it helped my team. It's nothing you can expect to happen every time I run a class I typically use to defend.

I think you're over exaggerating the truth to try and force a point. Stop doing that. I snipe when we have their second and there's a clear reason to snipe. I snipe on defense when it can work. I pyro to hold last depending on the map and sometimes I push to second albeit not that often.

edit: I forgot to mention that I do snipe at unnecessary times but not often enough for it to be brought up in this kind of conversation.

No i'm pointing out the fact you are being hypocritical

All right, I'll clarify some things.
We had a big clean up of admins recently due to the fact that there were a zillion admins who never showed up and never actually did stuff.

Ex: Cinq and I recently fixed a bug in the bot that allowed more than 2x the number of players needed per class to add up during captain mode. This bug had caused there to be 5-6 scouts/solis in the normal mode that follows up thereafter, causing the bot to be forcefully fixed by an admin unless those extra players removed.

Barely any admins besides eulogy, cinq, myself and a handful of others would do anything about problems as such. We have a group where all bans are posted. Again, only a handful of admins actually ban players for excessive offclassing, trolling, what have you.

I used to be much more ban-happy, but I've been very busy for the past month (never mind that I ping 190 to DA and 170 to Chi now). When I did ban people, I got complaints for banning for "little" things. Let's see, would you rather have the admins be lenient or would you rather them be cut-throat and restrictive? Now, where do you draw the line?

Said expletives in game. Ban. Complain. Ban. Kept spamming binds. Ban. Do you see how ridiculous this can get? Even little things like this can offend a person. Banning for petty things offends the person banned. But what defines petty? That is entirely subjective.

As far as in-game stuff goes, #tf2mix is not intended for experienced players. What is ok for a game in ESEA is not necessarily ok for new players. Running snipers a bit too much, a viable opening for a pyro, whathaveyou is often opened up by the inexperience of these new players. Abusing this is not ok, because it ruins the experience for the new players. See an opening? Fine. But hold back. Most of the time, not like it will work with better players anyway.

I'll end with this. I see many, but not all, complaints coming from people who barely play on #tf2mix or who just complain and never do anything about it. Want to complain? Fine, then be willing to do something about it instead of sitting there complaining and not doing anything. We rarely get requests asking to help by being an admin. Why aren't you doing that?

1) It's not remotely clear what the admin request process is. I know myself and some others would be happy to help in any way we can.

2) I've complained to admins about very very specific stuff and nothing was dealt with and I was told that it was "impossible to do anything about shit like that". I'm still too new to 6s to forgo your channel completely (plus, I actually like 80% of the people who frequent it), but some of these things did make me take some time off.

3) Are offclassing rules posted publicly anywhere? It seems like it's pretty often the other team runs an offclass for what feels like the entire game, and it seems hard to call them on anything except "being bitches".

So exactly what are the rules to running utilities then? Also what's the difference between me having done that with pyro and instead me doing it as soldier or scout? I have no reason to argue with you about it and I agree with what you said for the most part, on the exception of that. Would this even be an issue in this thread had I been a core class instead? If it's because the pyro has a seriously easy opportunity to one shot most classes in that situation, then okay I understand where you're coming from.

I understand newer players use tf2mix to help themselves learn the game better, but seeing as utilities are a part of the core game itself, it should really be clear what the rules are exactly with that. There's the obvious "don't run sniper all game" rule (which applies with all utilities) and there's some other common sense rules, but that's really all we have. If there are any other actual rules about it, it would be nice for everyone to know.

edit: I don't know where the minus frags are coming from on my post above this. It would be nice to know how I'm wrong with what I stated.

i think the minus frags are just from the brash context of your posts. we will be clarifying off-classing issues and hopefully implementing a general rule/guidelines document (similar to tf2.pug.na) soon.

If you say so, dude. Seeing as I played the class I was added as completely more than pyro and sniper, I don't see why you insist on thinking otherwise but apparently you're going to keep believing otherwise. This is pointless so I'll stop responding.

edit: Watched the demo. I was right. Only thing was that I forgot I took not one but two opportunities to spawn trap someone. That's whatever though, won't happen again. Fact of the matter is, I'm getting a whole lot of shit for nothing.

I said I wouldn't further partake in this conversation about me apparently never playing the class I added up as, but this is getting ridiculous. My original intent was to further explain why tf2mix is going downhill and that there need to be some serious changes. I didn't post here to receive replies about me that are seriously over exaggerated in order to make me look like a hypocrite when I'm not.

Either we can drop this and continue on with what this thread is about or this thread should be locked as it's currently not going anywhere. And if you think I never play as the class I add as, then report it to Eulogy and he'll be the one to decide since, as I said, he's the only admin who actually does anything.

The best thing to do when a problem arise is to do something and "now"! Don't let the situation deteriorate... It's fairly easy to use the "!admin" command on IRC. Most of the time we can save it by acting quickly. I would say that 90% of the time (if not more) things will go bad but the issue won't get reported at all. This is way too common in PUGs: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bystander_effect

Regarding the idea of a specific channel for middle players... I am not sure if there would be enough competitive players to have a channel dedicated to middle players. Plus, there's a "!surf" command, barely anybody is using it, that thing is for those players who feel unchallenged by normal games, just skip the lower games and wait for the captain games. There's no need for a second channel in my opinion, let alone a third...

I am working towards improving the system but at the same time I have major issues with Gamesurge. Things aren't going the way I want and it's hurting the progression of the whole project... My goal has always been to build a system that was easier to use and also easier to manage, right now we do not enforce the authentication of users since it's a complicated process. I can't even get back online the "beta" project of atf2.org... Also, it's summer time. Some of you might have more free time but I don't.

Yes, can we please understand that most of the admins in both channels have a career and that we can't be around 24/7. I'm not saying that we aren't around to help, but it has to be give and take. Report what is happening and we will deal with it. But, it is summer so most people are playing less.

omg everyone stop pointing fingers

lets solve the problem for everyone at the same time instead of wasting time dwelling in the past.

I also think consistency in admins is important. Also I have seen some people with the ability to restrict not saying anything during the game while they are playing. Admins need to be confident and able to enforce the rules.

And sure more admins might work, but could make things more complicated.

They aren't terrible, they're just in Dallas.

While I get 90-100 ping to NFO Dallas servers I maintain a consistent 110-120 ping on the tf2mix Dallas servers..

If nothing can be fixed on these servers at least get one+ Chicago server.

Can you ban the jumpers and charge as well as some of the other joke weapons. Letting people use dumb stuff doesn't really help the pug quality.

cinqThe best thing to do when a problem arise is to do something and "now"!

I took the liberty of adding you on steam, and I'd love to help take care of #tf2mix by becoming an admin.
