Been using the original for awhile and since they updated the sound it sounds fucking horrible. I know you can't use it on sv_pure 2 but does anybody have it so I could use it without hearing the awful new sound?

Well I downloaded an archive of all the TF2 weapon sounds and found the sounds. Not sure if you're meant to put them in the same place as hitsounds.

http://puu.sh/3GZd9.rar

edit: put these with your custom hitsound and it should work. Originals now no longer sound horrible.

nevermind still sounds bad, currently trying to find the old explosion noise and i'm not having much luck.

I extracted all the sounds related to the original when it was first added, to potentially use in QW. I just compared the August 2011 explosion to the current one and they sound identical.

Heres the thread i extracted them for, if you need proof of the date.

They fixed original using incorrect sounds instead of adding new ones for it so the sounds were the same in files, they were just unused.

It is unquestionable that the Original now sounds much different to what it was pre-Balance Update, so something must have changed in its processing if not the dry sound file.

Am I the only one that likes the new sound? Sounds like I'm shooting thunderbolts at people.

wareyarocket had the same explosion sound as stock iirc

this.

it might just be me, but in an area that has a bunch of crates/objects (granary and process mid, for example), the bass i get from the sound of the original makes it hard to detect exactly where the sound is coming from. maybe i just need to play with my sound EQ a bit.

I saved a copy of my entire team fortress 2 on 7/13, it includes the "original original" sound, once I get back from work I could try to upload it for you guys who want it.

I'm just curious, what prompted you to do this?

And yes please. With instructions on how to replace it, perhaps?

It takes me a long time to update (phone internet, 1200 ping), and I heard demos broke as well as plugin issues, and since nobody saves old versions anymore I felt it would be a good time to do so.

here it is, I guess use it in your tf/custom/sound and it might work, let me know if any other sounds or files or needed.
