Ok I'm reviving this thread because I have no idea why my new pc with a i7 3770K and a GTX670 does still have fps drops from 400-500 to around 100fps. I mean I am using chris highframes config with a pc that should destroy tf2 and I still get "low fps"...

That's why I still can't believe in a 9800GTX rendering constant 240fps, ofc, i also don't think enigma would lie about it, he doesn't have reason to do so. I don't know the extent of the wonder that a 30%+ cpu clock can do, but my rig with a stock 2500k and a 660ti OCd and chris fps config can't handle 200+ fps constantly.

I get 200-400fps with chris dx 9 config.

Setup is

i5 3570K stock
16gb DDR3 RAM
670 GT
120 gb SSD
2TB western digital for storage

Anyways my fps drops are really strange because on some maps I get absurdly high fps(I just played jump_QuBa with 1700-2000fps...) and then there are maps like swiftwater, upward and ofcourse hightower where my fps are freaking low...

-full -w 1920 -h 1080 -console -novid -useforcedmparms -noforcemaccel -noforcemspd -nocrashdialog -nojoy -noipx -nocdaudio -high -heapsize 2097152 -freq 120

When u set TF2 at a different priority than normal will decrease a bit ur FPSs, -heapsize now doesn't work, I don't know what -nocdaudio does but imo is totaly irrelevant cuz I never tested it, noipx doesn't work as well, try to play with -dxlevel 81 using chris' highframes cfg, play in fake-fullscreen. Now ur launch options are:

-win -noborder -w 1920 -h 1080 -console -novid -useforcedmparms -noforcemaccel -noforcemspd -nocrashdialog -nojoy -freq 120 -nod3d9ex

P.S.: use -nod3d9ex only if u're using Mumble and u want to enable in-game overlay, it will work now.

Well with my new pc I changed my launch options into:
-dxlevel 81 -sw -noborder -w 1920 -h 1080 -console -novid

Still this pc should destroy tf2...

Dont get the gtx 670. Get the AMD 7950. It's 30% faster and 100$ less money.
Memory bandwidth 7950 = 240000 MB/sec
670 = 192000 MB/sec
7950 = 384 bit card.
670 = 256 bit card.

7950 = 1792 stream processors.
670 = 1344 stream processors.

670 is basically a beefy 660ti. Mid range in the new generation cards, the 7950 is high end. Between a 670 and 680.

7950 = 300$
670 = 400$

THIS, but this game is totally about CPU power, and if u get low fpss in some maps like swiftwater or viaduct is normal because this game is a joke (poorly optimized).

he's getting an i5 3570k, so he's good to go cpu - wise.

30% faster? 7950 performs worse in most of games, in a ~15% overall slower performance, that's why it costs less and that's why AMD cut down the prices after nvidia's high end series' release.

are you playing highlander/6s/32 pubs? Why the fuck isn't there a tf2 benchmark yet. WHY.

What are these performance optimizations?

Well basically it makes your windows look shitty as f*ck. But I have't activated those settings on my new pc.
