10:33 AM - kirbaaaay: body
10:34 AM - kirbaaaay: i'm on wireless at the moment. i started having this problem around the 3rd. every ~5 minutes my ping will spike for 1-2 seconds. 50 -> 170 -> 110 -> 50 is what i was seeing last night. possible causes/solutions?
10:34 AM - kirbaaaay: new paragraph
10:35 AM - kirbaaaay: i know wireless isn't as strong as wired, but i find it weird that it would start problems now instead of when i first got it.
10:35 AM - kirbaaaay: not a paragraph but fuck it

can't. need to buy a 45-60 ft cable first lol

can't move router/modem either. it was specifically built under my house to work where it is only. roommate insisted we put it in his room because "why should we get bad connection" (so its okay if its the other way around i guess lol)

For a long time I was stuck on wireless and had similar problems. Then I just got fed up with it and bought a 25m cable and ran it through walls and shit. Sorry, sort of off-topic but it's how I solved my wireless issues.

I actually have a very similar problem only my ping goes from 40-50 or w/e I'm at depending on the server and then it spikes up to 150+ and then back down and this happens like every 5-10 secs? The spike lasts for probably 1 or 2 secs. It's really annoying and makes it really hard to aim.

If you have a dual link router consider getting a dual link dongle.

patch cables from monoprice are less than $15 in any color or length you could possibly want.

I have the same problem. My game runs fine then for a split second or two, the game gets super laggy and my ping jumps from around 30 to 200+, then after like 2 seconds it goes back down.

It's really annoying.

Any help is appreciated.

to determine if it's your isp or wireless connection that's the cause, open up two consoles and enter

ping -t <ip>

where you enter the IP of your router in one window and the IP of some server in the other

monitor them when you lag and you'll figure out which is the culprit
