I'm going to because in all likelihood they did not receive permission, and because the Artwork feature is for original content. You don't have to, that's your choice. You won't convince me to follow suit.

I called it a holy crusade because you made a public call to action to report artwork on steam. Steam doesn't even offer any sort of financial benefit like I said before, if someone wants to get prints or something of a piece then they're going to have go elsewhere to do it, the image being on steam itself really imposed no harm directly to the artist like you originally insinuated (unless scarred feelings is that devastating)

This is pretty much like music in frag videos on YouTube.

Do you go around reporting YouTube videos as well?

i understand the whole dealio with stolen art and how it's bad, i've been commissioned and i've commissioned in return

but to be realistic, the majority people who browse artwork on steam aren't exactly the people who wish to purchase art from other artists nor do they really care

You actually can't unless you're the copyright holder. I've tried reporting video reuploads.

Seems pretty two-faced/biased that you report people for just posting artwork, but don't report people that use music in frag videos and receive YouTube money from them, just saying.

Isn't everybody uploading random shit just so that they can put in on their steam pages (since you can display artwork)? I know people are violating the ToS and shit like that, but people are treating the Artwork section as an avatar/image uploading display and not a serious art portfolio. Steam honestly should have seen this coming.

I am just wondering if this is a big deal to artists in the digital realm then why is no one using watermarks. I don't think I have put out one thing in the past 5 years of my career without watermarking the PDF. I work in politics so it's a little different with sensitive data but even if it's not, I still want my org to get the credit.

Renhet#16 I notified Big Green Pepper of that upload, and it was clear that BGP had not given anyone permission to upload their work.

Are you against posting pictures of cute animals without direct permission given by the taker of the picture?

Any artist who has half a brain will watermark their work, unless art is just a hobby and they don't care if their work gets spread around without credit.

Though I've put my name on my shit and someone just photoshopped it out and started selling prints of it on eBay.

Renhet buddy ol' pal. Come give me a hug. You seem really bitter; did someone stole your artwork before?
