So, a friend of mine is working on a re texture for cp_badlands, thought you guys should check it out.

"I decided it was time to have a re-work of Badlands, because it was getting boring seeing the same old Badlands within fragmovies, I liked the textures, but I think something new and fresh could really revitalise the map, just like all the other RC maps had done. It's now 300% more pro with the new textures, following the trend of Barnblitz Pro, Viaduct Pro, Croissant, Process, and so on. I do however think that there could be a better blend grass texture availible, somewhere.

I've always loved the pro viaduct / warmfront / process textures but... badlands is badlands, change is just not going to happen.

The "pro" versions of maps are generally made to balance maps which would otherwise be unbalanced, not to retexture them. Unless he sees a major flaw in badlands and wants to fix it, it's just a reskin. The textures in the pro versions are just to distinguish the map from its regular version, and to supposedly increase fps by removing snow weather.

Pretty sure turts did this ages ago with cp_quake_badlands. I still have the map and stv of the games we played in NMW in my dropbox. In the end there wasn't much of a boost other than the fact that people could see stickies and players a little better.

Make it so that sand is still predominant, just have grass on the fringes of the map and in places where it would seem reasonable like the sides of the bottoms of valleys and pits (see: koth_badlands's water)

Thats your crosshair then, badlands is the only map in 6s that I can think of with the sand colour.

I think it can be fixed, at least partially.

By using a tool brush, like the invisible barrier one, and putting a wedge of it inside the corner which is causing the explosion to shear off.

I'm just going to note that TF2 isn't consistent with that list's "Solid to bullets". For example "Invisible" blocks most hitscan. Doesn't block the wrangler though. I did test this.

It looks weird now, at least fix the rails and random holes.

And if you do decide to go with that texture add some floral to it so it wouldn't look so empty. And the buildings will need a touch-up so they won't seem "out of place."

I think its nice to have a bit of change, maybe we could release a version with a few bug fixes.

But I kinda like the change. Playing the same old badlands over and over. Its like a old woman. :P (no insult intended to the older female tf2 players I know your out there)

If you could outline the problem with the exact problem like yuki did, that would be helpfull. Might not be possible, but we will try.

I like the idea of a retextured badlands, but don't really see the point of it. Sure you could fix the holes in the bridge, the cracks in the crates on mid, and all the random bumps all over the map, but they're not gamebreaking problems. However, spire looking like Spiral Mountain is definitely a plus for me.
