Am about to get a 120 HZ monitor. I need help deciding the one to get. I was hearing a lot of people say that a 120 HZ monitor helps your game is this true?
Or is it just a lie to get people to buy it?

I think you should tell your parents to hold off on buying you a 120hz monitor, you don't have the skill level required to really notice the difference.

edit: This thread was not worth bumping, not even to get in that sick burn.

That "sick burn" doesn't really make any sense. 120hz makes anyone's aim noticeably better

If you're really itching for 120hz, find a CRT. They can do 120hz at 640x480 in most cases.

Is that the highest res they really do? Does the lower res in any way decrease skill like maybe something to do with the mouse not being accurate or something... I've got no idea

Any other disadvantages of using a CRT?

CRT's shoot electrons in your face. Also some can do 120hz on like 800x600 and 1024x768, but you have to look for those. Pretty much any odd 17" crt does 120hz on 640x480.

For reference my old 17" Dell CRT did 164 hertz @ 640x480 and 85 hertz @ 1024x768. I currently use 144 hertz @ 1920x1080. The extra pixels are nice.
