Hey everyone!
Are you interested in competitive Team Fortress 2, but intimidated by official leagues or don't know where to start? We've been running Newbie 6v6 PUGs for over 18 months, providing a welcoming space designed specifically to help new players learn the ropes.
Whether you're completely fresh to 6s or a veteran looking for relaxed games, everyone is welcome!
What are PUGs?
PUGs (Pick Up Games) offer a casual & accessible way to enjoy competitive TF2. Matches are organized directly by our Pug Runners.
In a standard 6v6 match, team lineups feature:
We have dedicated learning channels (#guides-resources and #comp-questions) to help you pick up the fundamentals, map callouts, and rollouts.
When Do Games Happen?
We run PUGs almost every day!
Keep an eye on the #newb-announcement channel in our Discord whenever you're interested in playing. Usually matches happen later in the day, either before or after scrim times (19-21 CET), though on the weekend they can run from the afternoon into late at night.
How to Join & Play
- Get Verified: Send your ETF2L profile link in #manual-verification to unlock access to PUGs. Don't have an ETF2L profile? Simply log in with Steam at etf2l.org, click "My Profile" at the top right, and copy your profile URL.
- Join the Voice Channel: Hop into the Newbie Waiting voice channel.
- Queue Up: Once 12 players are ready in the channel, a Runner will start the PUG and automatically assign teams.
- Connect: Copy and paste the connect command from the channel into your TF2 console to join the server!
(By joining PUGs, you agree to follow our server guidelines in #rules)
Experienced Players & Off-Classers
Not a newbie? You can still play! Experienced players are welcome to join, although you will be subject to class restrictions to keep games fair. If you're an experienced player taking part then we would appreciate if you could help guide newer players. No going full tryhard mode!
If you've been on the fence about stepping into 6v6 then this is the perfect place to get started. Start your competitive journey today!
