I've been thinking of switching the MGE server back to DM mode. Should I? Should I keep it MGE like it is now?

I usually play there with one other guy but the server is usually pretty empty, another dm server can't hurt, they're usually always full whenever I wanna play em.

I think switching to DM will make people go there more often cause most of the dm servers are full.

The thing about dm servers is that it's hard to fill because everyone has the same idea. They would rather queue up to an-already-full server than join an empty one, which is reasonable.

Fog's tf.tv dm servers are usually 8/8 at peak times which would suggest that we could use more dm servers but extv has 3 DM servers that no one uses and they might be taking them down soon

eXtv took those servers down awhile ago, as far as I know. I used to go there almost daily and then 1 day the servers just weren't in my favorites anymore, asked around found the IP again for a couple of them and couldn't connect.

eXtv took those servers down awhile ago, as far as I know. I used to go there almost daily and then 1 day the servers just weren't in my favorites anymore, asked around found the IP again for a couple of them and couldn't connect.

Between MGEit, MGEit west and Reddit's MGE server, and MGE servers being higher capacity and a DM server, I think it would be beneficial to have another DM server to choose from.

I was leaning towards 8 slots, but I'd be ok with trying 10. And yes, can do re: snipers.

I'm happy to take other config suggestions as well.

The ips changed (a long time ago) when eoreality had some hardware upgrade. I put a thread up about said IP changes but it's obviously not going to be seen by everyone. They updated IPs were changed in the servers list on tf.tv

I don't want to ban stickies, because I think sticky jumping is useful. But people should understand that lobbing stickies all over the place doesn't take any skill, and is really annoying. Yes it is how you play demo in real games, but it's just cheap in soap.

last two times i played in fog's dm servers, there was a demo on each team that was just sticky trapping the health packs/spawn points on the map lol

it wasn't a problem, but it's still really dumb that people still go in dm servers just to troll people actually trying to dm

Yes...The slowest projectile in the game that requires the most prediction skill to get your best damage output requires no skill. Everyone literally has B4nny stickies and uses them the same exact way.

I may be a noob but the last time I checked Soap DM is about practicing what you'll be using ingame. What do Demos use as their primary? Stickies.

It helps you get better at countering stickies and they also get practice with them.

The argument against sniper is that he ruins the DM experience for others. The counter argument is that nothing can ruin your DM experience because dieing doesn't matter, and what other players are doing doesn't inhibit your own ability to practice.

Stickies are used to box enemies out of areas, restricting their movement and improving your chance of piping them. If someone chooses to run around M1M2ing everything, the only person they're hurting is themselves. It's no different than a soldier bombing everything that moves, or camping the high ground, or scouts shooting you in the back, or snipers body shotting across the map.

You can't ask for one and then complain about another.
