When I was in the steampipe beta, tf2 launched in 5 seconds. It was glorious. Steampipe is a good thing guys, just one day of having to back up your shit.

Yeah for you. Saying TF2 doesn't need this...is like knowing you won the lottery but you won't take it haha. I mean there's also a reason why many people already use and ask what fps config to use, I think that's an alright indicator that TF2 needs improvement.

Also TF2 can take time to launch for alot of people. Maybe not you or the ones with the glorious hardware, but the many of the TF2 pubber population and more that need this.

Then it will start instantly, or almost.

Just finished backing up my 12gb tf folder.

I heard it won't make much of a difference for SSD users.

I don't know why people are backing up files that don't need it. The entire TF folder doesn't need to be backed up. Only p-rec, demos, configs, maps, hud files and maybe your hitsound.

If the TF2 Steampipe update mirrors the CSS one, then it might move the config and demos for you. I noticed that my CSS config got moved to the new folder on its own, and even two esea pov demos from it went over to the new cstrike folder also.

But still, just incase, preserve everything kirby said. I'm still sad about the P-REC thing :C

You don't need to back up maps or p-rec.

The game launched for me in about 5 seconds, as compared to the normal 10-20 seconds. It's great :>

If I've already converted, can I delete my C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\acctname\team fortress 2 directory? Or does that still serve some purpose?

Yes you can delete your old folder.
