Playing with earbuds, having audio problem

I started using earbuds yesterday and realized everything I heard was as if everything was happening behind me when it wasn't. Left/Right directional sound is fine, though it still sounds like it's behind me. Not only is it confusing but it's annoying. Is there something I can do to fix this?

IDK Man I paired my earbuds with my black tossle cap and I have been fine, looks quite neat in fact.

Are you sure it's not just bad earbuds?

They're intact and I'm pretty sure have barely been used.

Also the headset I borrowed from a friend very recently didn't have this problem at all. So I guess it could be the earbuds, not completely sure but they look fine. Is there an online test I could use to determine if it's them or the game?

This, or try fucking around with your audio drivers.

Might be a bad connection with your headphones. Try unplugging and plugging back in. Have you tested it with other audio? Have you tested them on a different device?

make sure than in tf2 you have your audio set to headphones - not 4/2 speakers.

also go to control panel > hardware and sound > sound > click properties on the earbuds > make sure you don't have any enhancements running that could modify the audio. I think it's best to have "disable all enhancements" selected.

And this part is just my two cents, but if you're running tf2 with a quality config and have the audio turned to high quality, I recommend against this. High quality audio, at least for me personally, messes with my perception of positional audio.
