Been doing some preliminary LAN venue searching for TF2 within the North America region and I've narrowed down research to a few locations:
All venues have 100 PCs, allowing for 16 teams + enough PCs for production. Localhost Denver and the Nexus Arena also feature a stage. Localhost Denver is a huge asterisk until they fix their projector though
Let's hone in on the Ontario location a bit. St. Clair's College's Esports Program is home to a prominent Valorant (Fireside even casted them once) and decent Overwatch team, and the Nexus Arena as it's called is a fairly recent addition to the Esports Program.
Fragadelphia 19 (CS2) is being hosted over at this venue in particular. List of updated participants is as recent as of this article from Dust2.us features a few notable teams being NRG, M80, Fluxo, etc.. Note that this is also a VRS event hence the stacked competition (for the NA CS region at least)
Windsor's closest airports are -
- DTW - Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport: 34 min (25.9 mi) via I-94 E (in kilometers, take 25.9 and divide by like 1.6 to get an estimate)
- YQG - Windsor International Airport: 12 min (6.8 km) via Cabana Road E
The problem with DTW is that Uber drivers operating within the U.S./Detroit area can't operate in Canada and thus are very likely to decline requests. Renting a car from Detroit -> driving into Windsor may be the only options.
The problem with YQG is it's a small international airport that mainly operates via Air Canada/Porter Airlines. You could Google Flights plug your nearest airport and notice that the pricing between flying domestic within the U.S. is significantly cheaper than getting into YQG.
In addition to note, the Windsor municipality opted to close down the transit bus between Detroit & Windsor as of Sept. 1, 2025
So I guess that being said, unlike Localhost Philadelphia, there is no direct public transportation you can take to get to the venue. e.g. with Localhost Philadelphia you can take an Uber to the airport or go through the Philadelphia Airport -> SEPTA Rail and end up at William H Grey Station and do a 15 minute walk to the venue. Localhost Denver had the same problem, but it does not face the unique issue of the inability of most Ubers having to cross country border lines.
Question now is, is it even worth it to host a TF2 LAN at this location if the pricing scheme was similar to that of Localhost? Would you go IF you had the necessary paperwork to fly/drive into Canada and financial security to do so?
I've attached some images of the arena. Cheers

Seems like there are trains from Toronto to Windsor, but it takes around 4 hours. Shame there is a border in the way on the Detroit side :( .
