TF2 Coaching Central is a 4000+ member discord server focused on helping new players and introducing players to competitive TF2 with classes, pickup games, and fun events. We just announced our sixth NA 6s Newbie Cup, with signups open now until December 11.

Players with no to minimal competitive experience sign up to be placed on a team of six, led by a coach who will teach the basics of how to play the format and help them learn the maps. They will have three weeks to learn and practice together as a team before facing off in a tournament, scheduled for January 6-7, 2024.

Matches will be brought to you by our casting partner Fireside Casts, and the prize pool for winners and coaches is sponsored by Mannco.store

Our Newbie Cup events are a great starting point for anyone interested in trying out competitive 6s for the first time or looking to make their RGL newcomer/amateur debut in 2024, as well as an opportunity for more experienced players to help foster the future of the competitive scene by teaching newbies. We're currently taking signups for participants and team coaches! Tell your friends!

If you want to help this is a great place to really test your mettle and 6's knowledge. We're always looking for more Newbie Cup coaches and helpers for events.

New players always enjoy the guiding hand when playing the cup and this is a great opportunity to cultivate new blood into the scene! It's kind of hard to describe the feeling you get when you've couched a few Newbie Cup teams and watched them grow from newcomer all the way to Intermediate and main.

Requirements for coaches:

IM+ playoffs experience is preferred but will accept even seasoned amateur players (or equivalent). Our base ranges from people who are new to the game itsself to experienced pubbers and below 3rd place Newcomer who are all very new to 6's. You will be teaching them very basic concepts, how to get scrims and occasional demo reviews.

Overview:

This is a 3 week long commitment starting December 15th to January 5th. You will need to be available online around twice a week, and able to answer text questions from your team throughout. You can also request a co-coach to split responsibilities.

If you don't have a lot of time commitment but still want to help out and participate, we are looking for coaches to do general map reviews for everyone in our teaching corner (or other concepts) during the cup.

EU coaches are also welcome but you will have to work around NA times.

If you're interested, join the TF2CC discord and apply for coach in the linked channel.

Merci!

Our blog post courtesy of Valve just came through! We still need coaches! So if you know anyone who is able to, tell them to sign up as a coach!
