I've heard of a couple of open teams with sponsorships and I'd like to look into it for my team, my questions are:

1. Where do you find them?
2. Are you sometimes allowed to keep your team name?
3. What else do you have to do in a sponsorship?

This isnt too helpful as most are different

1. Most people find sponsors from previous teams that had them
2. Sometimes but a lot of the time they want you to use theirs
3. Dont act like a dick and make them look bad

What open team has sponsors? If anything it's just a guy who says, "ill pay fees for you guys"

My team is being sponsored for next season, I'll try to answer the best I can.

1 - Look for gaming communities involved in eSports willing to take on new games/teams. (That's the best advice I can offer because a player on my team got the sponsorship, idk how exactly.)

2 - I believe yes, but that is between you and the sponsor. Obviously since they are paying your fees it's really all down to them.

3 - Whatever they need you too I suppose, there isn't really anything for you to do, but play, and win, and make them happy that they payed for you.

Hope that helped, good luck to you and your team!

1. I've had, approached and been approached by sponsors in the past, and it varies depending on them. A lot of gaming communities, as mentioned, sometimes sponsor competitive teams for their games.

2. Depends on the sponsor. I think it's perfectly fair for them to ask you to change your name, or at least your tag.

3. Again, this depends. One sponsor I had wanted us to post on their forums consistently, which was weird and we didn't bother with them. Others may ask you to provide something on your team page that links back to them and their sponsors. Others might want you to say something about them in matches or something; usually it will be something reasonable, and worth getting a free server/fees/etc.

I originally found my team's sponsor when he posted about it on the natf2 forums. He was looking for a team to teach him the basics of the game, and sponsor the team in return.
Now we just plays video games with him and are friends. No name change or anything (except when we change our name to stupid things that he doesn't like, which happened). Not all sponsors are public or formal, it's just about getting in contact with the right person.
