Music on streams

So I've been working on a streaming playlist, and I just realized that I don't have enough songs or variety on my PC.

So here's a question to all the other streamers out there: what do you use for music?

Do you use last.fm or Pandora or something like that? It seems like this would give a fairly wide variety of songs.

I was also thinking about using turntable.fm. This would allow my viewers (all 2 of them) to directly influence what's played on the stream. Here, a big problem would be trolls. I can make the room unlisted, but twitch trolls could still get on. I could get a moderator to try to prevent this.

Maybe I should just keep doing what I'm doing and not have any music? IDK, every streamer (non-casting) has music so I feel like I have to. So what do you other streamers think?

I only play music because I want to listen to music when I play. It's more for my sake than the viewers.

That said, Pandora is a good starting point, but it gets repetitive faster than you'd think.

Doesn't Pandora only give you 3 skips a day or something?

idk about Pandora but 8tracks gives you 3 skips every hour. PYYYOUR uses 8trakcs sometimes when he streams. Honestly though as a stream viewer I'd rather not have streamers play music so I can play music I like in the background. I think one of the reasons I like seanbud's stream so much is because he plays music that I like, but other streams that don't I often wish I could mute (but then I'd miss out on comms).

youtube has a playlist feature and pretty much all the music you'd like to listen to, but choose videos with less views so you don't have to wait for the ad's.

I use adblock so that doesn't apply to me. But quality on Youtube is not reliable, so...

listen to whatever you want on your stream, as long as it isn't really polarizing music i really don't think people will mind

as for finding new music to listen to, you can use last.fm, find music forums/blogs on genres you're interested in, the /mu/ sharethreads are usually pretty neat, and some parts of reddit like listentothis are alright sometimes as well

i don't like pandora because it lacks depth, but it can't be a bad thing if you're just getting started

I never play music when I stream unless requested to do so and usually when they request it I just listen to Japanese music and lose all 3 of my viewers simultaneously

foobar2000 has a ton of plugins that are super simple to set up as far as printing the album titles to the stream

the player also doesnt take up much memory and is really versatile

I use pandora all the time, and I have like 30 stations on shuffle so it doesn't really get repetitive that much.

A bit surprise no one said Spotify, download it, install it, search for your bands/ song favorite them/ add to play list, listen to radio that is kinda like Pandora but has way less commercials and will allow you to skip everything(Least I can tell) A lot better than Pandora, doesn't take much bandwidth.
