So yeah has anyone found a way to brighten tf2 while running in windowed mode? I'd prefer to keep using dx9, I just the way it looks better than dx8.

It'd be nice if I could make the viaduct spawn room not look like a black hole

it's a spawn room man, why does it matter? turn up the brightness on your monitor or something.

Does mat_monitorgamma not work?

Edit: Disregard. Why not run in false fullscreen?

monitor settings.

If you had an xtra sp3ci4l l33t BENQ 120hz monitor, they have a g-g-g-G4Ng5Ta feature called...
BLACK EQUALIZER.

If you can't adjust brightness/gamma in video card settings, there's another way to do it in windows 7. Search for "calibrate display color" in the start menu and run it. Skip to the gamma setting and drag the slider until you can see things again. It will get reset every once in a while if you play other games but you can even fix it while alt tabbed with tf2 running.

Gamma Panel, something absolutely needed for Natural Selection:

You can't use flux with it though (in case you use it, since they override each others' settings). Disable flux if you have that too.

mess with the alpha and the colors. i like:

}
"gamma"
{
"ControlName"	 "ImagePanel"
"fieldName"	 "VerticalLine"
"xpos"	 "0"
"ypos"	 "0"
"zpos"	 "-50"
"wide"	 "768"
"tall"	 "480"
"visible"	 "1"
"enabled"	 "1"
"fillcolor"	 "200 200 175 25"

}

alpha at 40 is probably too high.
