Valve really need to start stepping in if they want their games to have any credibility at all, if this happened in LoL those players would be fined or banned from taking part in any tournaments in the future (I know it's easier for them to regulate it as they run the main tournament people play for). But Valve allowing the community to take control is kinda stupid.

Solo did it in dota2 and he's playing again, I'm pretty sure he was playing like 6 months after being found out.

There's no guarantee that this would be the end of it as there isn't any real punishment. They should have their main accounts VAC'd or an actual punishment applied by Valve that sets a statement of "if you try and pull of shit like this we will fuck you son".

Dota2 and CSGO really aren't going to last as long as they could do without some serious input from Valve to try and keep the game professional.

@WAR I dont think vac bans are the way to go, theyre not cheating, theyre just idiots.

Until esports become legitimized and has a union/overarching organization similar to the NFL or NBA there's really nothing you can do.

Valve can't just say LOL YOUR GIRLFRIEND SAYS THESE ARE REAL TEXTS NO MORE CSGO FOR YOU... like people just make new accounts.

Solo won 300$, in reality they should be fined and suspended from tournaments but since there is no centralized way to do that, its up to tournament organizers individually so again, nothing's going to happen to them outside of shaming and probably having a hard time finding sponsors.

the worst thing i could see happening to them would be them being banned by tournament organizations
if they were banned by esea, esl, dh, faceit, cevo, etc they would basically be gone

dude instead of having to work really hard to become the best you can now just do a really good job of framing people for match fixing and get em banned

The VAC ban idea is just a way for them to actually punish players, it would be like a mark on their record, something to show that this player has an infraction against their account etc.

My issue is that Valve should be doing something to actually take control over the scenes for their games, with them not doing so you are leaving it to third party organisations that could just leave Dota2 at any point if they really wanted to.

Like LoL have fines for pro players behaving badly in public games and stuff, there's so much that Valve really need to get a grasp on especially in Dota 2 that is just causing harm in the long term.

aimIt wasnt a valve sponsored tournament.
Starladder banned Solo...

One tournament banned a player out of many, and it doesn't matter if it wasn't a Valve sponsored tournament the guys still threw a game so they can win money ffs!

If there's no real substantial punishment other than a players reputation being harmed then people are still likely to do it.
