I just bought a new computer for gaming/streaming. I bought an Intel i5 3.2GHz, GeForce GTX 7702GB, 8GB DDR3, 24" BenQ XL2420T.

I tried to just run through some default settings with bopper quick and it didn't work well. I used monitor source and 60fps at 780p. If any of you really know how to configure OBS or know another program to use i'd appreciate it if you could help me out. When I was streaming in game it cut my fps down to 60 and I could barely move. Really have no idea why.

1. look into overclocking
2. game source is ideal if you run in fullscreen mode. edit: even if you don't, you should use this. i doubt you have many uses for overlays if you're just starting to stream.
3. what bitrate are you encoding at? even though your upload could easily support a proper 720p bitrate of near 35000, don't put it above 3500. 3000 is probably fine, and your CPU shouldn't have any issues streaming and playing TF2 at these settings. if for some reason it does, keep your bitrate at 3000 and lower your FPS to 50, FPS is the bigger performance hit of the two. it'll still look smooth enough.

I stream at 1800 bit rate 30 FPS and i've been told it looks fine

You might also want to try resolution downscaling, it helped my net performance while streaming quite a bit.

Those are my settings I have around the same internet quality as you but 40 up should be more than enough to stream at far better quality than I do.

i would recommend against 1080p for fpses, not only will you take a (very unnecessary) performance hit, 720p 45fps looks better for games like this. 45 fps has, compared to 60, less of a performance hit for personal streaming and looks almost indistinguishable in a flash player.

tf2 is a highly cpu intensive gamne so definitely look into overclocking (dont bother with gpu overclocking though, its a waste of time for this game).
