I would play this game if i didn't have to pay for premium, don't see the point in it when noone plays pugs on the esea client

leakyI would post but it seems like everything I want to say has already been said.
Play ESEA.

Say it in your own words. It's important even if it's already been said.

You are asking newer players to take one on the chin and like it, though. Open isn't a good deal and it doesn't offer anything except the chance to finance a league that's only particularly beneficial/worthwhile for the higher div players.

i see this posted in a lot of threads and i don't get the logic
why even play a competitive game if you think like this? your money is gonna go to the best players in any league you compete in

Love of the game. Why is there rec leagues or community leagues of many sports? Some of my coworkers played soccer in college and pay to play in an indoor league. Two of my coworkers played college baseball and they pay to play in a softball league. They aren't playing to win money or make the MLS or MLB. They play because they still love the sport, being part of a team, and competing.

blinKYou want to save $2?

Playing CEVO over ESEA Open will save ~ $45 a year. Which isn't completely insignificant for some people.

and i'm not in the don't play ESEA bandcamp, either

KAMOblinKNo offense to UGC, but Lonely Hearts won the 6's top division last season so that's irrelevent imo. They finished I think 7th or 8th in ESEA-OPEN? The competition will be extremely watered down if you split the league up into 2 divisions. And I think there will be more fallout than just mix^. For the guys who have been playing for 10+ seasons they enjoy going to LAN and use it as a goal to achieve. If you thought the open competition was unfair what do you think CEVO will bring? I'm not saying the switch to CEVO wouldn't or couldn't work. I'm saying that it's not going to make anything better, but much worse. Definitely not ready. There's no reason to switch as of right now. That's my point.

I can understand a new players pov from you KAM, but to those of us who have been around for years it's a lot more complicated than what your understanding of the situation is.
Unfortunately, the ESEA ship is sinking and I applaud your loyalty for trying to patch the hole as you go down with it, but the majority have jumped ship and are in life boats, headed for new beginnings. I don't claim to have much comp experience, I'm looking at it objectively from the outside, so yes my perspective is different. Will the first season be a bit jumbled, competition-wise, yes, of course, but one season of transition is nothing for the longevity and happiness of the majority.

See you on the shores of UGC highlander. Esea dies and 6s will slowly fade.

blinK Why do we need to let ESEA die as long as they're not running malware on their client?

There's a lot of reasons why people are jumping ship.

I've had several Open-Low IM friends ripped off by ESEA in the past. Whether it's getting treated like a piece of meat, getting ripped off by the monthly fee, a super shady press release or having a foreign program that has farmed bit coins.

I'd rather try something new (CEVO) than relive the mistakes of old (ESEA).

Sports are physical games. Some people can't play due to injury, age, etc. Computer games are different. There's not a lot to hold you back except yourself. You can be competitive even in a pub server but if you want to compete with the best in 6's this is your opportunity.

CEVO isn't new. It has a worse history than ESEA. It could become the premier league in time but the time isn't now only because it still requires a lot to be done. Shit happens, nothing is perfect, things happen in every division (look at pyours team last season, no exceptions. remember?). You do the best you can to compromise and make it work. And ESEA is still the best league to play in at this moment for many different reasons.

It would be interesting to hear from those "50%" of invite players if they would actually quit tf2 and refuse to play CEVO if ESEA drops tf2 or not.

I didn't say refuse to play cevo, even I'm playing in cevo. Cevo alone has nothing to offer to make me care about practicing or playing tf2, and I'm sure many others feel the same.

Like I said last season we made it to the grand finals in cevo playing huntsman sniper and spy. It was fun for a change of pace. When it comes down to it though i'd rather play in ESEA for the competition.

There were 8 teams signed up.... now there are 21 teams paid along with 91 rosters and more to come if ESEA drops TF2.

I'm not above promoting ESEA on this forum but there's nothing that can be done at this point except to convince teams to play both leagues and make sure CEVO can actually deliver in future seasons. You don't want to be stuck in the same situation with a smaller league that has less features and has little motivation to grow after the inaugural season even to equal (not exceed) what ESEA offers

When does ESEA season start? If there is a large influx of teams that decide to sign up then ESEA won't drop TF2 right?
