In-game problem while streaming

Can I post this in this sub forum? pls move if not

While streaming, I'll get frequent in-game freezes where everything, including myself stops in place for ~2 seconds then skips ahead to what's going on currently. I don't notice ping spikes in net_graph, so I'm not sure if my ping is even spiking.

I've been experimenting with settings as I can't seem to find a solution, but currently my bitrate/buffer is @ 3,000. Quality is at 10. Downscaling @ 1.50 (native res is 1280x1024 so I'm not sure if I even need to downscale).

Upload is @ 11.49 Mbps.

CPU - AMD Phenom II x6 1055t, 4GB RAM, GPU - 5770.

I had to reinstall OBS due to getting a new HDD and I ended up not saving my OBS settings. I wasn't getting this problem before reinstalling. I'm not necessarily sure if my settings are the issue or if it's something else.

I think my buffer might be too high, but I dunno. Help :(

edit: I used the updated OBS guide from Skyride, but I think I might have made a wrong turn terribly somewhere.

By norm if you are lagging in-game while streaming it means that your bitrate is too high but since your internet is more than qualified to stream it's either a problem related with hardware or your OBS settings. From your post I can see a few things that you might wanna look into:

Currently my bitrate/buffer is @ 3,000.
Unless you are a Twitch partner (quality options) this shouldn't be higher than 2k since most people will experience video stuttering.

Quality is at 10.
Enable CBR (tick the box above the quality drop-down menu) and CBR padding to meet Twitch's minimum broadcasting requirements.

Other than that I can't see any other "wrong settings" that would cause your problems.

could be either hardware or internet. I'm not a computer expert so I can't really help you out past there but I'd check your temps.

Lowering the bitrate to 2500 and Quality to 9 seemed to help. I'm not entirely sure as I don't know what was causing the issue, but it was probably my settings.
