Picking A Class To Main

I recently started playing TF2 seriously again and have had a ongoing problem picking a class to main. There is a few classes i like a lot but i want to just pick one class and play it nonstop until i master the class. So far the classes I've been thinking of maining are Soldier, Scout and Medic. I would also say my skill level between the classes is about equal and i enjoy them the same. These are the reasons i'm considering each class and would love any advice anyone has regarding this subject.

Soldier(Pocket): I like having a medic on me a majority of the time. I also am not too bad at rocket jumping and somewhat decent at the class(IMO).

Scout: I like being able to move around quickly and pick off enemies. I also enjoy the fact that scouts are not as relied on by teams as much as apposed to the Demoman or Medic.

Medic: I like helping out teammates and leading them to victory. And i love to keep people alive and at their highest potential.

Any comments are appreciated. Feel free to add me on steam if you wish to talk more or have any advice.

Medic's can be rare...so if you enjoy it I would say choose that one as your 'primary'. People that truly try to master all the nuances of that class are in high demand. It's not like you can't still play the other classes regardless :)

Holy shit, play the class you like the most. It's really that easy. If it isn't a 6s class, play roam or scout and/or do highlander. Don't overthink things and be like "well, I think I'm better at this class," because it honestly doesn't mean anything, you'll get better at whatever class you put more time into. If you like all the classes the same amount (which you WILL find out after a while of playing, that's not the case) pick one out of a hat.

Sorry if the post looks hostile but honestly these threads make me cringe.

Thanks for replying but for people like me who are indecisive on a lot of things it's hard to find a class to be comfortable with and be happy with your decision. But you've certainly helped a lot.

Assuming you're roughly equally skilled in all the classes and like them the same (for now), the alternative is to just play whatever class a team needs. In other words, medic.

knowing more how you want to play would help, whether you like pressure or want to be the guy doing work behind the scenes, whether you want to dictate the team's play or not, or if you like to be creative or prefer brute force.

my opinion is if you want the team to hinge on you and enjoy the challenge of succeeding under constant pressure, then med's the way to go. you can also dictate play, but the pressure on you is immense to keep heals up and stay alive.

pockets tend to be forceful and can dictate the play a lot and often get a lot of the praise for their team's success (aka you can be the hero you always wanted to be), whereas a roamer has some more freedom and can be more creative (let out the artist in you?)

scouts can do crazy work, especially if your dm is top class. you can be a killing machine if you're a good scout, and being a light class there isn't too much pressure on you as you are not typically leading the push.

these are all just generalizations, there are always exceptions of course.

Pick what you like. If you can't decide, just pick a class and try it. Play a few pickups, or even a whole season, then move on.

Seriously, forget skill. A lot of top players get to div1/prem, then change classes and work their way up again. I played Medic/Pocket for years before rage quitting a few months back when I started getting above div5 and hating how the class played above div6. I changed to scout and I suck shit, but I've never been happier.

For me i love to be aggressive and that has been my problem with many classes because i get one or two picks then go crazy and start trying to kill everyone else. Or i'm aggressive at the wrong times which results in a death with no kills. My dm is terrible at the moment due to me not playing tf2 in months. I also would say i prefer to be behind the scenes a lot of times but also in the action so it's kinda complicated to find something in between for me. I can stay alive as medic if the person i'm healing is taking care of me and making sure to keep scouts away and any other potential threats but if that's not the case i might as well be fighting the enemy team myself with my syringe gun.
