Not trying to be conceited, but everyone else does see it that way, sorry. Everyone who I've told or had to tell in real life is always either very surprised or hesitant to believe me, since the only trans people they've seen are the ones that don't pass (I wonder why?) There are plenty of trans people, man or woman, that don't get 'clocked' in real life

Continuing on that, what if it was impossible for you to tell?

I believe it's on the post-op person to inform their partner. If the game is to see how I would react I couldn't tell you, because it hasn't happened. I would be miffed in all likelihood. Why? Dunno, it's just how I feel, and I cannot change that and I find it doubly and hypocritically wrong for someone to suggest I should.

I just want to add a final thing, though I already said I was done.

Waffleb: I want to make it extraordinarily clear that I wish you no bad feelings and I sincerely hope this conversation, and the opinions discussed within cause you no lingering harm or emotion once you close the browser. I couldn't imagine being in your position and I believe it takes a considerable strength, of which I likely myself do not possess, to face what you face and do what you do. I wish you nothing but good fortune and happiness.

So are you of the opinion that when you have two things that are functionally and aesthetically the same, viewing them as different due to invisible factors that you would be unaware of if you were not told is rational? I don't think you can really argue that it is rational, and while I don't necessarily blame you or think less of you for feeling that way, I think it's unrealistic of you to consider it not a bigoted opinion.

To further illustrate my point, I will provide an example.

A man, upon meeting a woman, finds her physically attractive and chooses to strike up a conversation with her, hoping to pursue a romantic relationship. During the conversation, the man learns that one of the woman's parents happens to be black. Upon learning this, the man no longer finds the woman attractive and is no longer interested in pursuing a romantic relationship with her because the fact that one of her parents is black makes him uncomfortable. Do you consider this man a bigot?

There's not enough information to determine the answer. I would want to hear his reasoning for making that choice before judging him.

I guess it comes down to whether or not you are a person who believes there is more to a thing than just function and aesthetics, and I think there is a vastness of qualities beyond these two things. Still, I categorically challenge this sameness in function, and very skeptically consider this sameness in aesthetics. Again this is all a fantasy. Everything you posit is "if" "if" "if" and never the real.

Here is more fantasy: one bad analogy for another

Once I was in a server and went to trade my vintage ubersaw to a kid for a bunch of keys. I realized it was level 100, and swapped it out for a normal level vintage ubersaw. We traded. After the kid found out I switched the levels, he confronted me. It seems he had actually intended on trading for the level 100 vintage ubersaw. I tried explaining to him that they both looked the same, even had the same vintage tag, and functioned exactly the same way. I told him that no one would even be aware of the weapons level unless they were told. He was irked. He called me dishonest for hiding the switch, and assured me there was a difference. I called him a biggot and left the server.

It's nothing like that. It could be a perfectly awesome soy burger, but if I ordered a cheeseburger and you hand me a soyburger and I want a cheeseburger I shouldn't be called a biggot because I won't eat the perfectly okay soyburger. Not my thing. I'm sure it tastes great. But give me my burger.

this is dumb, this is really really dumb, the analogies can go back and forth

Paper money is created by the government and assigned a value. It's completely fabricated.
If you hand me paper money that looks exactly like a fifty, but was fabricated by some other means, it doesn't matter how many gas-stations will let me pump gas with it. It's not a fifty. It might look like a fifty. It might work like a fifty. There might be 0 difference between it and a fifty. As far as the government is concerned it is worth zero.

if trans women are the fifty, they're somehow worth nothing to someone? who? the government?

transwomen are legally considered female

...it's an analogy, the legal aspect has nothing to do with my point... the appropriation and accepting of value is what I was getting at, like with the damn burger... if I value a cheeseburger, you cannot hand my a soyburger and then call me bigoted when I explain that even though your telling me this tastes comparable, I still prefer a cheeseburger

The point is, bloodsire, is that if you saw a pretty woman, you would call her pretty. If you later find out that she is trans, does that make her less pretty? You're missing the point of the burger analogy.

Okay, I'll cover this bit by bit. First, what qualities do you feel a biological female has that the transsexual female I've described doesn't have? As to the 2nd portion of your first paragraph, that's just a cop-out. Your argument is "because I'm not positive that the scenario you pose exists in the real-world, I refuse to address it". Until you know that the scenario CAN'T exist in the real-world, you can't really refute it using this method.

Next you don't actually post your opinion on my analogy or why it's bad, you just say that it is and move on. In relation to your own analogy, it's not exactly the same since in the tf2economy, higher leveled items are literally worth more. Unless of course you're saying that biological women are literally worth more than transsexual women?
