I suggest you start as scout for 6s or scout/sniper for HL. Find a team that's willing to teach you some basics (but don't leave it all to them, teach yourself and learn from research!). Depending on how quickly you can grasp the game style of TF2 you can move up in rank as you get better. You can play open in ESEA and see where you rank in open.

if you're familiar with ESEA you can grab STV demos of the top couple of teams and take a look at the players

any player is a solid bet

Watching demos and casts is always a great way to learn why players act the way they do. See where players position themselves, when they attack, when they fall back, and why.

There is a intro guide here to competitive play here: teamfortress.tv/articles/view/52-introduction-to-competitive-tf2-part-1

And if you'd like to try out 6s games for yourself, you can get mentored with other new players at this fantastic group: steamcommunity.com/groups/na6v6newbiemix

reillyThe pocket mustardoverlord(COLLAGES) has played IM for a while on demo, so he might be someone to watch for good decision making.

Do you even know what you are talking about? Dont make a post before you do your research, especially if you are trying to teach a new player.

Soldier - TicTac, TLR, Blaze
Demo - b4nny, that's it i guess
Scout - enigma, cyzer, yz50, clockwork,
medic - idk

whether or not they're the best soldiers/demos/scouts in the game, they're still really good to watch

You may as well not even start playing this game because it's going to be dead before you even leave Open.
