Hello, I was trying to sell my 13th hour hustlers hallmark when somebody added me outta the blue, they inquired about my hat and offered $275 USD for it, I accepted thinking this was a good offer and stupidly after checkin "rep" and receiving a picture from him 1 click away from sending the money, traded the hat first, the money was never received and now I have lost about 260 dollars worth of hat,
I have the steam ID used from him however it appears to be a scamming account as it has only been active 2 weeks
I have the photo mentioned above
And also the record of the trade for nothing on inventory history
I can provide these on the thread if u think u can help me,
It also helps that the hat is one of one on the game so can be tracked but it seems he has either deleted it or moved it to another account as it is no longer in his inventory on the said ID

Any way of helping me, It would be appreciated, I have seen on other threads that People contacted parents and so on, but I don't know how to go about it,

Thanks for reading and please please PLEASE help me!!! :)

That happened one time. That person that we actually "helped" was someone who is active in the actual competitive tf2 community.

Since then, there have been several people, completely random people who have come here for help, who no one knows, and if it weren't for their misfortune of getting scammed, they never would have made an account and posted here.

Therefore, those people usually get trolled, minus fragged, and laughed at.

Just telling you how it is from the inside looking out, and how this is going to turn out for you.

I'm sorry you got scammed, that really sucks, but this isn't really the place for it, and there honestly isn't much we can do even if we wanted to. The incident you refer to where we helped Roody, I think we might have actually gotten lucky because the guy who scammed him was stupid enough to use his actual steam account, which had enough information on it to find out how to contact him. It sounds like you got scammed by someone on an alt and you happened to think it seemed legit.

Sorry man, good luck.

The community helped one guy, and now we get hoards of traders begging for assistance.

The moral of the story: Never help anyone.

nobody knows who you are, which rapidly decreases the chances of someone helping you. report him on steamrep. don't come to random forums that have nothing to do with trading.

good luck

I honestly don't know how people always seems to get scammed this way still. If you really cared about your unusual, you'd go through the procedure of making sure that person is a legit person, not an alt. Have rep, consider using middleman, and etc. Never be careless when it comes to a trade involving money and one person is able to get away with it. Also never go first I think.

Pretty much listen to what crespi said.
