#310 Watch: College Kids idea of identity in The Dumpster

his argument has shifted entirely since the beginning of the thread, and he has never once conceded that he was wrong, instead just pretending that you misunderstood him and his Real argument was something else

dollarlayerBy both cases I mean 2 scenarios.

1) Is it ok for a biological but legitimately transgendered man that identifies as a women to shower with his junk hanging out inside a women's locker room?

2) Is it ok if a man that is not transgendered to shower in a women's locker room with his junk hanging out.

that isn't how this works. what you are doing is presenting a difficult moral hypothetical as a way to invalidate the argument that trans people ought to have basic human rights. what you are also doing is ignoring the mountain of evidence already posted in this thread that trans people using the bathroom of their chosen gender is a net positive, especially in areas of sex crime.

finally, i'd like to specially address the complete fucking stupidity of this statement here:

dollarlayer"There are also nearly 700,000 transgender individuals in the US." Oh so not even 1 out of 700,000 people are ever going to do that?

your argument is that because a large number of trans people exist, it is inevitable that one of them would commit a crime using the fact that they are trans to assist them in committing this crime. do you live in the same fucking universe as everyone else? would you also like to make an argument that no one should be allowed to drive a car because someone will inevitably use that car to hit someone? how about arms and legs, should we all remove our arms and legs because someone might use their arm to attack someone? are you genuinely this blind to how impossibly idiotic your thinking is? how you even manage dress yourself in the morning is a legitimate mystery to me

dollarlayerI'm not sure if you read my previous post. Here is a quote from it:
dollarlayerBut if they are actually trans or not, that is quite irrelevant. There are so many rules and regulations you'd have to implement by allowing either sex to enter either bathroom.
Basically what I'm saying is by changing laws or allowing "legitimate" transgender individuals to enter either bathroom of their choice you open up a can of worms to those that may not even remotely be transgender and might be completely straight pervert individuals.

Although a "transgender" person might not be at directly fault, the laws in some states which allow either sex to enter either bathroom are problematic and difficult or impossible to enforce.

here's the very simple problem with that line of thinking: there is ZERO proof that any of the perverts you are paranoid about exist or will abuse transgendered peoples rights. you are arguing that a massive group of people shouldn't be allowed basic human decency on the theoretical off chance that someone abuses that decency. do you really not understand how incredibly stupid and reductive that thinking is?

#14 High DPI + Low Sens vs Low DPI + High Sens in Q/A Help
holofernesdots per inch = degrees per inch = sensitivity (that thing there's a console command in every game for)
"more precision" from a specific dpi setting is nothing more than placebo

this is just not true though, if i had a mouse with 1 dpi then it would be incredibly imprecise because the majority of the movement of my mouse wouldn't register a new angle. obviously with actual, realistic dpi values you very quickly start getting diminishing returns as you increase your dpi, but that doesn't mean that all dpi settings give you the same level of precision

#70 Colour test in Off Topic
Kaneconitei think its sort of cheating because i do a lot of work in photoshop and my monitor is calibrated to show color perfectly, whereas im sure a lot of people have sort of wonky color settings that mess with the arrangement of colors along the gradientWould be interesting to know some useful resources on calibrating our monitors. It's one of those things I never really looked into and I know I'm most probably not using the best settings but would be incredibly useful to me since I do a lot of video work with color correction.

try this, it will get you most of the way to correct settings

Here's a bug I've noticed when pubbing on this map: if you come out to 2nd from your team's last and try to launch a Wrap Assassin ball up at the spire, it immediately explodes in your face and does 4-5 splash damage to you. If you try it from other side of spire on coming from midpoint, it launches fine. Is there some wonky invisible collision hull sticking out too far or some volumetric trigger or something that's making the ball think it's hitting something?

You normally can't even launch the ball if you're too close to a wall so I'm not sure what kind of trigger would make it blow up instantly, but it's a fairly big area where you can't use the ornament.

damn, it sounds like you got fucked up dude

PendjiHow can he spend $1300 on Steam? Outside the market, what WOULD you buy? Orange box, bunch of bundles.. My whole library of 400 games is not half of $1300 and I'm rarely finding games worth buying.

#3 Mouse in Hardware

just a few friendly tips from a mouse expert

  • make sure to get the mouse with as much dpi as you can. you're gonna want a minimum of 8000 dpi
  • look for a mouse with cool neon colors. red makes your mouse move faster, but blue keeps your mouse cool for sweaty gamer palms. there are benefits to both obviously, so decide wisely.
  • you're definitely going to want a wireless mouse, get those bulky cords out of the way and disconnect yourself from the matrix. wireless cords keep you free, from both the hassle of the cord and from government interference

i wish you luck during your search for gamer gear!

#124 Updating cp_snakewater in Map Discussion

i'm of the mind that the gaps should be removed, they very very rarely are going to add anything to the map being there and taking them away removes a lot of headache for soldiers. i especially think its worth it now that the saw room canopy is gone and you are going to see a lot more soldier jumping onto the pipe and spamming down onto the train

#40 cultural appropriation in Off Topic
HuckFunny how in the process of attempting to be politically correct, people worried about cultural appropriation and white chicks getting dreadlocks are basically regressing back to the arguments of segregation and having different types of people being "separate but equal" (`・ω・´)

thats literally not what is happening at all but thanks for your interpretation

#68 Campus employee assaults white student in The Dumpster
the301stspartaneeethat's like saying that if you know what the word nigger means you're automatically racist. Obv a racist would know what it means, but he'd be a p small part of the overall venn diagram
He said it because you baselessly equated "animal" with "ape", giving a general insult a racial connotation where there was none. By your metaphor, you called somebody out for calling his friend Nick, thinking he was trying to call him a nigger.

this is completely ridiculous though because racist rhetoric has a history of associating african americans with apes and other animals, you cant just completely ignore the cultural context of the specific insult that someone decides to use.
