#9 CEVO Season 5 Announced in News
meb1) why is the site designed so poorly? It has a shitton of functionality, but the design makes it impossible to find anything relevant, which leads me to

CEVO is aware that there are usability issues with the site, but it's not like anyone set out to purposefully make a site that some people found hard to use. There isn't a lot of existing data out there on how to make a great UI/UX for a video game league website, so people gotta figure this stuff out as they go. There's such a huge amount of data to relay to users, it can be hard to learn how to best show it. Right now, all development is focused on league functionality rather than website design. At some point, resources will be freed up and the design can be looked at and tweaked again.

meb2) why are there still no automated sourcetv for every event with easily accessible ip addresses I can just copy paste into my game? I spent like 10 minutes in a roundabout conversation with Lansky (terrible experience) on how to find STV for lb of the spring tournament so I could cast it, but we both came up with nothing

This is something I cannot come up with a clever excuse for. Our STV infrastructure is non-existent and that is unacceptable. As of right now, casters have to come directly to CEVO to get STV information. We're aware that this is a big problem and it's on our to-do list.

IrishhhhSo there are 3 divisions now?

Yes. Professional, Main, and Open.

AJSo for those not in the Spring classic, how does the match mod function? How 'hands-free' is it when a match is occurring(essentially I mean how much if at all do i need to touch the rcon)?

Rcon is no longer required whatsoever, and is not even provided anymore.

AJAny rule changes for s5?

The whitelist will be tweaked based on community feedback. In addition, we plan to change scheduling so that teams can no longer safely ignore schedule proposals. A team will still be able to force the default time if they choose to do so, but it will require deliberate action from them that leaves no room for uncertainty. The default time will also be pushed back from 8:30 CST to 9:00 CST.

#13 CEVO Match Mod Feedback in TF2 General Discussion

Demos have been fixed and should be available for any matches played tonight or yesterday.

Stats still weren't working tonight, so after my team's match I started debugging SizzlingStats some more. Mike (lead web dev for CEVO) and I found an issue with our production server that was preventing it from properly communicating with SizzlingStats. We're in the process of fixing this issue and hope it is the last roadblock between us and functional stats. We hope to push out the fix tomorrow in time for matches.

Thank you guys for being patient,
Lange

#8 Walking shoes in Off Topic

I'm a size 11 and am willing to drop up to about $200 on a pair of shoes if it they will actually last. I'm trying to avoid sneakers, something like these are more my style but obviously the durability just isn't there.

MasterKuniIs there a Nordstrom Rack near where you live? I've gotten all my shoes there (since they tend to be heavily discounted and really high quality) and they've lasted an eternity.

I have to order online, I live in rural Wisconsin and have no time to go to a store.

#1 Walking shoes in Off Topic

Hey TFTV,

I'm in desperate need of shoes that can put up with an overweight dude walking multiple miles per day in them. I have worn straight through the soles on two pairs of G.H. Bass buckinghams in one year. I need new shoes in time for my orientation at One Step camp on Friday (I'm volunteering as a photographer). I realize that walking on non-broken-in shoes is dumb but I can't show up with my current shoes, they literally have holes in the sole. There will be a lot of walking and I'll be a wreck by the time we're an hour in.

I'm really struggling to find a shoe that looks good but has a durable sole. Is there such a thing as a buckingham that has a really durable sole? Really though I'll take any recommendations for good walking shoes that can take an absolute beating while still looking decent.

Thanks,
Lange

#4 Thanks CEVO in TF2 General Discussion

This was an error on our part. If you received an email with $0.00 stated winnings, you should have a new email with the correct amount listed. We apologize for any confusion caused, and take full credit for any humor found.

KrocketKarmaI'm in. I might only stop by and say hi to people though, don't think I'll bring my computer or anything. Can't wait for my first LAN ^-^

It's a LAN center, computers are provided and you couldn't bring your own PC if you wanted to. The $48 pre-pay is what gets you access to a computer.

Cobra447Will the Match Mod be available as a standalone or is it proprietary for CEVO matches only?

I have not had the opportunity to see/use this in a CEVO match

It will not be made publicly available, and will be used on CEVO servers only.

#9 CEVO Match Mod Feedback in TF2 General Discussion

Due to an unfortunate glitch in our distribution script, the fixes I made previously were not actually pushed out to all servers. I'm working to get this fixed now, and hopefully these patches will be properly distributed this time.

As a result, stats and demos are also not available for tonight's matches.

#124 i52 LAN Fundraiser in News
FLOWERIm not against fundraisers etc. at all. But isnt about 1500 dollars quite alot for flight tickets?

A cheap flight from Chicago to Birmingham is about $1300. It's several hundred more if you are flying from the West Coast, and if you aren't close to a major airport like O'Hare it's even more expensive.

#2 HLSW Replacement in TF2 General Discussion

HLSW should still work, albeit it can be tempermental. Have you tried installing the latest beta rather than the latest stable?

I agree though that a replacement is needed. HLSW development has been stalled for quite some time.

#4 What shall we do with pug.na in TF2 General Discussion
alec_its not that inconvenient to have 2 networks, but i'm not sure why it was done in the first place either

Part of the reason is that GeeksIRC automatically hides IP addresses for all users (I think), reducing the attack surface for DDoS. One of the ways that attackers got players' IP addresses was from #tf2.pug.na and other GameSurge channels.

To hide your IP on GameSurge requires both authenticating to ChanServ and setting mode +x on yourself, which most people either don't know how to do or don't bother.
