#3 If you were the average casual TF2 player in Videos

I probably wouldn't understand a lot of the stuff in 6s games. For example, I would see sideshow's first clip (crits! criiiiiits! *drops med eventually) and think "he missed a lot then killed the medic, okay cool i guess? Why does he think he's good, I've done that too"

I personally did enjoy the video a lot though, stream highlights are great. I just don't know if I would have, if I knew nothing about 6s and didn't recognize the people streaming

#7 Finding a good laptop in Hardware

I made the mistake of buying a $1300 laptop for games and school my freshman year of college. I'm a junior now and I finished building a pretty nice $900 PC today. Trust me, I got a really good deal on my laptop and it still wasn't worth it.

I'd really recommend getting a chromebook, although there are a few fields where having a "real" laptop is more necessary. What are you studying?

#12 Medic wanting to get into competitive. in TF2 General Discussion

I know it's been mentioned multiple times already, but I cannot emphasize enough how fantastic NA 6v6 newbie mixes are. Supportive, fun, relaxed but not a joke. It's by far the best place to get into 6s.

Have fun :)

#4 help me with my coding hw in Off Topic

Break it down into individual tasks, as simple as you can, then solve them one by one.

If you don't know something you need to know in order to complete one of the tasks, google it. You're better off working through coding stuff yourself, even if it takes lots of searching on google to figure out how it works

#2 Lizar lft thread in Recruitment (looking for team)

Lizar subbed for my team for a few matches and scrims this season, and I've played a lot of pugs with him.

Really strong DM and communicates what he's doing well. He needs to work on his positioning as demo, but with a strong main caller you won't have any problems. He's a natural fragger, dedicated, and he turns up big when it matters most. Try him out!

#25 How's your team faired so far this season? in TF2 General Discussion

I joined a team in the newbie mix team drive, Koalas In The Rain, for my first ESEA season.

We started off 0-4 but nobody was too discouraged, we all knew that this is what we'd signed up for, we could accept losing to better teams. Then, starting with a grueling 3-2 victory in game 5, we went on a 4 game winning streak. It felt incredible. All the work we put in before the season and during the first few weeks was really paying off.

So, up to a 4-4 record and it's Metalworks week. I guess we relaxed a bit too much going into these games... It's my biggest regret of the season. We didn't do our usual map review with our phenomenal mentor Tino, and we didn't fill up our regular scrim schedule... So we lost both our games that week, 3-4 and 2-5. I think we could've won both of them, but we weren't prepared and hadn't practiced enough- our opponents thoroughly deserved to beat us.

3 big losses on process and viaduct plus a forfeit win leave us at 5-9 so far, and I think there's a bit of frustration among the team that we let ourselves down.

It's all good, though! This has been probably my best ever experience in gaming so far. I'm so so lucky to have found a team so motivated, positive, and with such a will to learn and improve. Even if our results aren't showing it, I can see the improvement in myself and my teammates, and it feels great. Shout out to Tino for sharing his wealth of knowledge, shout out to Zinnk for carrying (seriously this dude's a ridiculous fragger), shout out to Mortar for offering me a spot on the team, shout out to our subs for always being there when we need them most, and shout out to the guys who run newbie mixes.

I love TF2 :)

#1768 PC Build Thread in Hardware
SetsulYes, wireless without a wireless adapter is quite difficult so I'd recommend you get one.
I need more information though, what does your router support? No point in paying for an ac adapter if you're stuck on g.

My house is getting a new internet plan along with a new router soon, so I'll get back to you on this once we finalize that.

#1766 PC Build Thread in Hardware

Thank you so much setsul you're a blessing :) I'm so excited to get started.

Two more questions.

For the time being, wired ethernet isn't an option for me. Do I need to buy a wireless network adapter? If so, any suggested models? I'm willing to pay for quality.

Second question....
My roommate is also planning to build a PC. He wants to play Overwatch and DOTA 2 at 60+ fps, both at low or better settings. He lives in Ontario, Canada. His budget is $800 CAD. He hasn't done much research yet, any suggestions to get him started looking at potential builds?

#6 LFT Can play any class in Recruitment (looking for team)

Hey, good luck in your search for a team! From your post, I'm guessing you don't have much experience in competitive TF2- it's great to see people like you trying to find a team!

If you haven't played much competitive 6v6 TF2, then I recommend you take part in a few Newbie Mixes. They're all about learning the 6v6 format and each person's role in a team- it's great practice with experienced coaches and a really supportive atmosphere. Here's the link to their steam group: https://steamcommunity.com/groups/na6v6newbiemix

Just join the group, and you'll see a notification every time newbie mixes are being hosted. They happen every Friday night starting at 9:30 eastern time. Have fun :D

Pumany opinions of the people that got to play badwater?

I've gotten it once and it was much better than Swiftwater. The one game I got wasn't tons of fun, I'll have to play more to get a better opinion of it
