#40 Is it still worth getting into tf2? in TF2 General Discussion

Try again next week! They go on really late- once one group finishes, the coaches come back to get more people (more coaches also will show up throughout the night) so if you don't get picked, hang tight for the next game

cool

the amount of fake stories being made up to demonize trump supporters is at an all time high

I'm sure some of these stories are fake. I'm sure some of them actually happened. The point shouldn't be to demonize Trump supporters. Not all (I have no idea how many so I don't want to suggest a proportion) of the people who voted for Trump are racist, or act like this.

The point is that Trump being elected both validates and normalizes the hateful rhetoric he used during his campaign as "acceptable" in the eyes of many. This, for me, is one of the most disheartening aspects of his success, and while surely some of these stories are false, the ones that are real are proof of this effect.

#8 Is it still worth getting into tf2? in TF2 General Discussion

Totally worth it! Once you get your feet underneath you in terms of mechanics (rocket jumping, air strafing, okay aim) and basic understanding of the 9 classes (less to learn here than overwatch, but a lot of depth you'll keep learning over time) you'll see how incredibly fun TF2 is, especially in a competitive setting. Competitive TF2 will be around for years even if the top of the scene doesn't grow, so you have plenty of time to become great and it'll be a blast.

Have fun :D

Would the rescue ranger be less frustrating if you couldn't fire it from inside spawn, and you couldn't carry buildings into spawn while it's equipped? I think as is, it's just too frustrating and overpowered (without taking much skill to use) on last holds, and should probably be banned again, after this full season of serious in-match testing has demonstrated its effect on 6s

faggetI just want to point out that yelling racial slurs when you're mad doesn't necessarily make you racist, it just makes you ignorant.

I believe that instinctively associating a racial term with a negative connotation is racist

#4 LFP Demo in Recruitment (looking for players)

Great group of guys, I had a lot of fun playing with them last season. Zinnk is an extremely good scout, while Grape and p0ss3ss3d are very good as well, and play great in matches. They're all dedicated and friendly, try out with them!

I think every pyro melee should increase the pyro's speed while active.

Boomfan56Have models ever been this wrong before? The chance of Trump winning went from like 20% everywhere to he's the president in like a day.

a 20% chance is a very real possibility. Tonight shows how real.

I don't like saying "I'm speechless" but I've been trying to figure out what to type to express what I'm feeling for 15 minutes now. I guess this counts?

#8 Global Whitelist Meeting #2 in TF2 General Discussion

I think streaming would be fantastic. The "public" won't interfere with the actual discussion, and they will still be able to talk about it amongst themselves- and more of the "public" will tune in. It would also be very visible to valve (onus on those with connections to make sure they know when to tune in!!) so they'd get a lot of amazing feedback about their weapons without having to talk to us directly. Another benefit is that anybody can view the vod later.

Chat would also be lit

#3 LFT spy main. can play soldier, demoman, pyro too in Recruitment (looking for team)

There are two main NA TF2 leagues: UGC, and ESEA. ESEA is a paid league, and only has 6s. UGC is a free league, and has divisions for both 6s and highlander.

If you are new to competitive TF2 and want to find a team to play spy for, you should try to find a UGC Steel highlander or UGC Iron highlander team to join.

Here is where you can find threads posted by leaders looking for players: http://www.ugcleague.net/forum/forumdisplay.php?7-North-America

Here is where you can post an LFT thread of your own, for teams to find you and offer a tryout if they want: http://www.ugcleague.net/forum/forumdisplay.php?6-North-America

This forum isn't a good place to find highlander teams, as it's mostly focused on ESEA and 6s.

Good luck in your search for a team! I hope you try out 6s one day, it's a lot of fun :)

#1 Headphone suggestions? in Hardware

Hi, I'm looking to buy a good pair of headphones.

I plan to use them for anything and everything attached to my computer. Gaming, music, movies, etc. Pretty good sound quality for music is a must. I'll be attaching a modmic to them, so I'd prefer one with no built in mic. Any suggestions?

edit: budget around $100 usd. If I can't get a decent pair for that I'll go above it, just a ballpark estimate. ty saam
edit 2: I'd prefer open backed, over ear headphones. I listen to electronic music, plus a lot of classic rock and some alternative. I don't care whether it has a detachable cable or not
