Working on that eSports team. What are your thoughts?

"With Blizzard's purchase of the IGNProLeague, the IPL brand and structure is effectively dead, and will no longer run major tournaments. This includes tournaments for StarCraft II, but also other games that they have featured previously including Riot Games' League of Legends and Ubisoft's Shootmania."

Nore more major tournaments for SC2 :C, but it took down League a bit with them!

Blizzard destroying their game's biggest competitive league...yea, I don't think so.

I'm sure they have plans in the pretty near future for IGN.

I have a couple friends that were exactly on that team; they're pretty happy about it. While it's a bit sad that there's one less independent tournament series, at least the production and management teams on there will not go to waste. I'm pretty sure they will only do Blizzard content now, which is a bit sad, but it will at the very least raise the bar higher for eSports. I wish them the best of luck, and hopefully volunteer at one of their events at some point (I volunteered at IPL3 before).

They aren't IGN any more, they were sold off by Ziff Davis, which has just recently bought IGN.

I just called them IGN because I don't know what else to call them...The artist formerly known as IGN?

The former IPL team. They were a separate division inside IGN (i.e. not the news site).

dashtmI wish they would drop shitmania and pick up tf2 or csgo

I tried to get in talks with them to pick up TF2, but the day we discussed it, IPL announced that they were stopping tournaments.

So.

RIP.

:(

IPL would've had TF2 long ago if Valve were more involved. That's something Shootmania had a solid hold over TF2.

IPL was already dead, basically all they did was take all the sc2 people that were about to be unemployed and gave them jobs producing what I'm guessing is going to be this years WCS, which blizzard just announced they're dumping $1.6 million into, so I don't really understand how they "destroyed their games biggest competitive league" when IPL wasn't that big to begin with and was basically already dead when they bought them. The only reason the shootmania tournaments they were having were still going on was because they were pretty much 100% Ubisoft funded.

Anyway, blizzards been doing a lot of good shit lately in sc2 between this and WCS, hopefully sc2 starts to make a comeback between this and HOTS being so much better than WoL.

Also #9 is right, I'm pretty sure the only reason shootmania tournaments even exist is because ubisoft is funding all of the prize money themselves.
