The idea is still impractical today because the technology in various areas of mobile computing (CPU power, battery life, scale of components) just isn't there yet but companies still have to put in effort to make advances in the area or it won't go anywhere. Personal computers weren't even imaginable a few of decades ago.

I completely understand your point. Today's input devices are truly terrible, the freedom you get using a mouse and keyboard are completely ridiculous; they give you far too much comfort and usability, we need to handicap ourselves so that today's easy games finally become hard again, just like the good days of the Nintendo Gamecube. Rarity is my favorite pony.

Windows 8 is a piece of shit for anything besides tablets/phones. It crashes, doesn't work with old drivers, and is an overall pain in the ass to navigate. All of this is from personal experience, not from just repeating what everyone on the bandwagon says.
Every other windows release is usually a piece of shit.
ME was painful. XP was incredible. Vista was crap. Win 7 is great. Thats just the most recent windows versions too, it goes back farther.
It's not hard to see the pattern.
