There are tons of things other than the tournament to do on the Friday and Saturday post-tournament, ranging from pugs to the draft tournament thrasher wants to run again, not to mention just meeting cool people.
Don't be afraid to enter the tournament though, I know that Nick is going to try to make it rewarding for everyone participating.
BYOC means bring your own monitor as well so I do recommend you bring your own.

From the breakdown we got regarding the internet capabilities at the event, I don't think regular ticket holders will have the upload to be able to stream. Stream bandwidth was a big concern for us, but GXL will be working with us to rectify the situation and we feel good about it atm.

If sign ups keep up at this pace it'll sell out and it'll be all TF2 people so there won't be any random minecraft kids to worry about.
Realistically tho we will get a large area for comp TF2 players like in years past, but considering how big this will be hopefully nick can work out some group seating for teams in advance.
