so whos gonna be doing the majority of it? i know shade catches a lot of the action, i think other players should as well given the time and proper equipment(a working camera). who else is going to ESEA lan and i49? aside from the teams of course, meaning people who are gonna be casting and what not

Shade must continue.

But i agree we need more footage.

Interviews with teams would be a good idea to do!

Whoever is willing to do coverage should consider making videos like this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E1pk2hr3CTU

I think these "over the shoulder" style videos are the most interesting to watch because you can actually see the players setup and their hud, crosshair etc.

It's not the same as having their config :(. But yeah I agree for the most part.
Also forgot to mention that shade did do this last lan in I think his player spotlight videos.

@ dob.

Im not sure a player @ LAN would find it interesting to have someone filming that close to him.

Or maybe they just zoom and they are still far away?

I've got this great idea for coverage for i49. Someone should amass interviews, casts, and highlights and edit them into sort of a frag reel, but not really a frag reel or film. Maybe more like a uhm... documentary. Shade should use his cell phone and just constantly stream live footage from his chest pocket.

I will be helping out the guys at kritzkast on doing lan coverage, we will be doing a lot of youtube content (interviews, showing the venue, stuff like that), and also be having a few vlog's running (the exact details of everything is still being worked out). We will also be having written coverage, a very active twitter/facebook feed, and all that.

we're aiming to do at the very least three videos per day (not counting vlogs), but if all goes we'll we'll have much more content out.

Expect content coming out from wednesday the 21st

VanillaTV will have a 84 sq metre section of the TF2 hall with a stage area (with spectator seating) dedicated to providing onsite and online coverage of the i49 Team Fortress 2 Tournament.

Casters will include Myself, Beta, Byte, Skully, and a selection of guest casters from other organisations. We also have a massive selection of backstage staff who will be managing the stream production, and other content.

We should have multiple streams online with sections of our stage area dedicated to producing on-site player interviews and additional video and written content. A large number of high definition cameras (and a few HD webcams) will provide coverage of the event atmosphere and people eating pizza on our chairs.

Other organisations will be providing their own written, video and streaming content too.

I'm pretty sure in terms of coverage, you will not have seen anything close to this level of coverage in TF2 to date. We've pulled out all the stops for this one.

We might even run some fun 'late night' drunken gamer karaoke streams when the day's games have died down!

The TF2 Grand Final will take place on the Multiplay Twitch.tv stream with myself and Beta casting with help from the rest of the VTV crew to make sure it is another show this community will remember for a long time!

I'll be doing my normal coverage. Hopefully before ESEA I am able to get my hands on a decent camera as well instead of using my iPod the entire time like usual. I'm always up to try and include any suggestions people have for footage. For this ESEA LAN and the i49 LAN I plan on recording A LOT of footage with the hopes of a big project to come following i49. So if you have ideas on footage you would like to see feel free to drop it in here and I'll do my best to get it on video.

Well having one of two dedicated stages at one of the largest gaming events in Europe promotes competitive TF2 quite well. Also the grand final is always the most watched performance at the Multiplay events.

Aside from that, it is up to the TF2 community to promote itself. I'm sure the usual online sources will have posts and articles written, but beyond that... by all means pitch in :P

What Arx said, but that's pretty standard. I've been meaning to make connections to some of the larger eSports organizations (whether it be sponsors/houses/leagues, just whatever I can reach), but I haven't had much success with that yet.

I think I'm going to try and record stuff at ESEA LAN but I haven't done it before (or much real life camera work) so my output might not be as good or consistent. But I will attempt it. A surprising amount happens at LAN, definitely room for more than one person to record stuff.

Might be a good idea to submit a tip to The Penny Arcade Report. They might do a more in-depth look at our fantastic community, given that we've funded two teams to go to insomnia two years running AND we've given tons of moneys for both Tip of the Hats and the ghos7 fundraising drive.

People will appreciate anything you happen to record, the technical aspects aren't as important as just having the videos available. As a spectator, it's interesting to see what a LAN environment is like, and the more videos, the better.

I know Valve posted a blog post about i46 (I believe it was pretty underwhelming though) but what about getting a post in the TF2 Menu thing that always opens when you start up the game. Right now it's about the Summer Cooler crates but it'd be pretty awesome if every person who opened TF2 saw something about i49 or even ESEA LAN. Doesn't CS:GO link to streams when you open it up now anyways? We're really not asking for a lot.

Valve doesn't link to streams. At all. Because they can't give a consistently good standard to players when you involve streams.

Mana, have you played CS:GO? This is the main menu. I'm reasonably certain that the streams displayed are just the ones which have been accepted by Valve at some point and have the most viewers, sometimes they aren't even streaming CS:GO at all.

Oh geez, I missed that streaming section (just started playing recently). But I don't think they'd do it for TF2. 6s isn't the same thing (or close) as pubbing.

HRG short of shade doesn't record much; I'd like to know if anyone else from the other teams (specifically iM) have plans to record their journey to i49.
