matterteaI have the Acer and I'm not really that happy with it. It doesnt feel like my old crt at all.

Probably cause it has a ton of input lag. why didn't you read the posts in this thread first.

njahookyDoes anyone know where I can try a 120Hz monitor? I don't want to spend $500 for one and have my eyes not notice any difference between 60 and 120 Hz.
Can anyone answer this? I've been stuck with a 60 Hz for a while and I'm looking to upgrade of others' opinions, but I'm not sure if it's the right move if the difference is barely noticeable.

Well I just checked Fry's website, and they have some. Might head over there to see if they have them on display.

I have played on 120hz for about a year and a half- i think if i went back i would actually just rather not play.

its so much better.

if you don't notice its cause you haven't enabled 120hz

or you are slow

Apparently the difference is very noticeable, it's just whether you think that difference is worth $3-400 bucks

Try that. Windows defaults to 60Hz, even when the monitor is higher. For example, my monitor is natively 75Hz but Windows was set to 60Hz.

I've already set it to 120Hz... I mean I can easily tell if it's 60 or 120Hz on my desktop(the mouse pointer is soooooo smooth on 120Hz) but not in TF2

setting your desktop to 120hz won't necessarily force your game to run at that refresh rate if you play it full screen.

there's usually some sort of option to force the highest refresh rate on every resolution. make sure you find and enable that.

Well from the many people i've asked, it makes a huge difference in terms of smoothness and tracking ability.

Well I recently changed to windowed mode and I still don't really notice a huge difference.

Try putting -refresh 120 in your launch options

I was just at Fry's and it didn't help. They only had 2 120Hz monitors; one was set at 60Hz and it couldn't be changed, while the other was set up for 3D. :\

I guess I'll just need to get one and return it if I don't notice a difference.

yea hooky you just need to trust that 120hz is better

and it truly is like its an EXTREMELY noticeable difference in the same way that you'll notice a difference between 30fps and 60fps streams

also if you can't get above 240FPS in tf2 that would be a problem (not sure if its a problem for you but just sayin)

I'm looking for a new screen and I don't know if I should get a 120 hz one... The thing is I live in Israel so pretty much everything is a lot more expensive (the LG W2363D is 255 in Amazon. In Israel, I found one store that has it and they sell it for 2000 shekels, roughly the same as 500$). The point is, does the 120 hz refresh rate really matter that much? I can get decent monitors (1080p, 2 ms response time) and actually get a warranty or I can order it from Amazon and get the monitor by November (I have family in the US :p) even though I won't get a warranty.

Quick question, I have the option to purchase the BenQ XL2410T, possibly tomorrow. For an extra $100 I could get the XL2420T. Is it worth the extra price?

Edit: I'm also interested in whether or not both either of them have 90 degree rotation. I miss having the option of a vertical monitor for programming. And does the 20T still have to view-by-view thing. It looks interesting, although not really necessary.

Well fuck.

I just bought an XL2420T the other day, it arrived already, and I already opened the box. I paid $385...

What the hell should I do? Try to return it? I almost feel ripped off. I wonder what this new monitor will sell at when it comes out.
