The correct, most recent version of Sunshine is suffix-less by the way. So its just cp_sunshine.

Will this flop like arena re spawn? Will 6v6 Payload work out and redefine the TF2 map pool? Can we ban all stock weapons!?!?

Correct me if im wrong, but isnt creating a new format a bad idea? Look at the whole 6s vs HL shenanigans?

Is there any reason why both coalplant and ashville are being played, they're essentially the same maps, with same mid and minor changes. If this tournament is really something that wants to change things up in 6s, surely newer maps that show promise should be played.

It is NOT an attempt to change or replace 6's. It is intended to be a one off tournament to just try some things out. Nothing wrong with that. It is refreshing someone putting money where their mouth is rather than just making empty talk.

I agree, that does seem kinda weird. koth_bagel might be a better option

I will vouch for koth_bagel until I die. That map should be added instead of the lesser liked of coalplant and ashville.

cp_vanguard for 6s? Anyone who has played ten minutes of valve's comp matchmaking knows vanguard is not a great 6s map...

Still, very glad to see privately run cups spring up out the blue again. Cheers to sigafoo, and I hope to participate :)

if you need suggestions of maps outside of vanguard to play, since it says "might switch this out": reckoner's fully there for all ya to take the piss out of each other in if that sounds desirable

i'm fine with experimentation but throwing 2000 dollars at an experimental cup instead of sponsoring something more standard is questionable at best

hell you could even keep it in the back pocket until esports arena but w/e

My same concern. koth_sideshow should get it's place to shine.

Also would rather see attack/defend get a spot in the mappool over payload.

I don't like the ban system in this. This season we already made a huge progressive jump forward with an extremely loose global whitelist, and that was already very controversial. The one scout idea, and having more koth/pl maps is something that might be interesting, but throwing too many variable into an experiment is a good way to not get any good data out of it.

eg: "This game was aids, but was it aids because we had to play it on a payload map, or was it only aids becasue we had to play against the wrangler?"

If you want to do a tournament to test out different ideas, don't do all of them at once. The community has already made big steps in having fewer banned weapons in the game, there's no reason to bring that even farther in this tournament when you're already changing so much.

It's his money and he can do what he likes with it, but he's basically paying $2000 to watch prolander. And on established (or even rejected) maps no less.

It's not really a valuable experiment if everything's been done before. Prolander's been done, pick/bans have been done, and most of the maps have been done too.

Would have been cool to see a new map tournament or something with maybe a more liberal white list or CL2 or whatever. At least that would have been something new. It's his prerogative to rehash stuff if he likes of course, but I wish he'd stop rejecting the current format as elitist because he hasn't personally seen all the reasons for himself.

EDIT: actually on second thought liberal white lists and CL2 have both already been done too ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Why even spend 2k on this shit it's all been gone through before and it's been proven to be terrible. You could spend 2k vaccinating kids and end up with less autism

we aren't mad because we don't like the rules, we're mad (not even mad...disgruntled) because sigafoo is spending 2000 dollars on a tournament in the name of "experimentation" with formats that have already been determined to be awful when he could be using that money to grow the community in several better ways.

yeah but sigs not crazy about 6s in the first place so if he wasnt doing this then the money probably wouldnt be going elsewhere anyway.
