Swedish esports organization Crowns eSports Club have announced that the org and the TF2 roster have parted ways with each other, citing roster issues as the reason behind the separation.

The Crowns roster was formed back in October of 2015, where the team, initially known as Saints, were created by a number of well known Swedish players for DreamHack Winter 2015. Shortly after forming they were picked by the Publiclir organization, and placed 3rd at DreamHack Winter. Despite only forming for the event, the team decided to stick together for ETF2L Season 23 Premiership, albeit with a number of changes to their initial roster. The team grabbed a bronze medal in Season 23, and continued on in Season 24. During the middle of the season, the Publiclir organization opened up a new branch of their organization with Crowns eSports Club, thus bringing a fresh new name to their esports teams. Crowns were then invited to participate at DreamHack Summer 2016, where they once again earned another 3rd place finish. After returning from DreamHack, the team attempted to make up for their shaky Season 24 regular season by qualifying for the Premiership playoffs, but they failed in doing so, being left behind in the dust.

Crowns' manager Henrik Bergfeldt spoke on behalf of the organization about the parting of the team:

Today we’ve decided to thank our Team Fortress 2 roster for their time with us and part ways. It’s been a pleasure working with Smirre and ondkaja ever since 2014 when we under the banner of Publiclir sponsored Saints for the ETF2L Season 18 and during i52. After Dreamhack Winter 2015 we decided to make our sponsorship to TF2 more permanent by putting confidence in Smirre and AMS to put togheter a roster that could make it to the ETF2L Season 23 playoffs. After a rocky start the team did manage to pick up the bronze medal and expectations for Season 24 were high. Once again the team was off to a rocky start but this time they didn’t manage to take a spot in the playoffs. Performance at Dreamhack was good however and the team could’ve made it to the finals under the right circumstances. Since then the team has experienced some roster issues and at this point the roster for i58 isn’t complete and that is partly the reason why we’ve decided to part ways.

Crowns eSports Club's roster was:

  • Scout: BeaVerN
  • Scout: p-rez
  • Roamer: Thaigrr
  • Pocket: AMS
  • Demoman: Smirre
  • Medic: ondkaja

If I recall correctly only Ronin and technically running with scizors still have sponsors. I also heard of an ETF2L team which is supposedly being sponsored by matcherino, can't really say anything about that though.

We have not stopped sponsoring TF2, we was just not satisfied with the results even though we liked the players very much.

I almost never comment on anything but I felt like people might got the wrong idea about us as a organization. If we will get a new team or built something new from scratch is something we will reveal in the near future.

At least they actually care and respect their own name as an organization. It's not like the sponsor dropped due to miscommunication or lack of contact but rather that they weren't happy with the performance and issues, and theyre willing to sponsor a new team. Pretty nice of them.
